Mandate and publisher

Artificial Intelligence and Autonomous Systems is a specialist platform of The Global Centre for Risk and Innovation (GCRI). Its mandate is the technical science of trustworthy AI, robotics-enabled autonomy, the computational methods behind them and their social effects. This page sets out who is responsible for the platform, what it is designed to do, the limits of its role and its current operating state, which is in development.

02Mandate

Technical AI science, kept distinct from governance and finance.

The platform exists to produce evidence about what AI and autonomous systems can and cannot do, so that operators, reviewers and the public can rely on measurements rather than marketing.

Field

Scope

Artificial intelligence, autonomous and robotic systems, and the data and compute they depend on.

Community

Who takes part

AI researchers, applied scientists, safety engineers and public-sector technologists.

Outputs

What it is designed to publish

An AI safety method library, sector use-case studies and evaluation protocols.

Mandate to authority.

How Artificial Intelligence and Autonomous Systems is governedA mandate sets the platform's scope; an editor and reviewers govern what it publishes; programmes and the community supply the work; the integrity route handles corrections; authority over decisions stays outside. Design of the governance, not a record.

04Publisher

Who is responsible.

The Global Centre for Risk and Innovation (GCRI) publishes the platform and answers for its content. GCRI works across Canada and the United States.

05Why a dedicated platform

Science, not policy or financial oversight.

AI is studied as technical science here, rather than as policy governance, which is convened through AI and Digital Governance at The Global Risk Forum (GRF), or as financial-sector oversight, which is the subject of AI and Financial Model Risk at The Global Risk Alliance (GRA). Keeping the three distinct lets each institution keep its own mandate while sharing evidence.

06Limits and state

What the platform does not do, and where it stands.

  • It does not regulate AI, certify, license, rank or approve any model, product or provider.
  • An evaluation result describes a test under stated conditions; it is not a safety assurance for other conditions.
  • Taking part, sponsoring or providing compute gives no authority over findings.
  • Artificial Intelligence and Autonomous Systems is in development. Its pages set out its scope and how it works, and its activities, records and services are published here as each one opens. The current service level is R0: information and enquiries; write to contact@therisk.global or see contact the specialist team.
07Questions

Questions and answers.

Is the platform a separate organization?
No. It is a specialist platform of The Global Centre for Risk and Innovation (GCRI), which publishes it.
Does the platform accept funding from AI developers?
Any support is recorded with its terms, and no funder, sponsor or provider can shape or block a finding. Conflicts are declared by reviewers before they assess work.
When will evaluation protocols be published?
When each has been reviewed. Planned outputs are not presented as released, and each release carries its method and limits.

The current service level is R0: information and enquiries. An enquiry receives a reference and names the next step; applications, payments, compute allocations and registrations open only when their team, terms and review capacity exist.
