The Global Centre for Risk and Innovation (GCRI) is a premier international organization dedicated to tackling complex global challenges through cutting-edge innovation, strategic collaboration, and enhanced governance frameworks. Specializing in comprehensive risk management, disaster risk reduction, and sustainable development, GCRI integrates Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) principles with advanced technologies—including Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML)—to deliver scalable and impactful solutions for a resilient and sustainable future.
GCRI proudly holds Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and is a Civil Society Organization (CSO) member of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF). As a key player in global governance and risk reduction, GCRI actively participates in the Santiago Network for Loss and Damage and collaborates with National Working Groups (NWGs) in over 120 countries. Our Regional Stewardship Boards are critical in ensuring that regional initiatives align with our global strategic vision.
About the Role
As a Regional Board Member, you will play a pivotal role in shaping global governance, ensuring that regional policies align with international law, and strengthening planetary integrity through multilateral collaboration. This role requires expertise in Nexus Governance, an innovative holistic framework that addresses global risks such as climate change, biodiversity loss, and resource insecurity. Key Responsibilities include:
1. Governance & Legal Oversight
- Strategic Oversight: Lead long-term planning, financial stewardship, risk management, and policy development, ensuring alignment with international legal standards.
- International Coordination: Work closely with continental boards, the Global Stewardship Board, and the Board of Trustees to integrate regional and global governance strategies.
2. Fundraising, Investment, & Portfolio Development
- Access to Capital & Networks: Leverage regional and global financial networks to secure funding and investment opportunities for GCRI initiatives.
- Fundraising Strategy: Drive extensive fundraising efforts, ensuring resource mobilization for high-impact projects.
- Investment & Recognition: Strengthen GCRI’s portfolio by facilitating investment opportunities, positioning GCRI as a leading player in global risk governance within your region.
3. Implementation of Nexus Governance
- Framework Leadership: Champion the implementation of the Nexus Governance model, ensuring policy integration across regional and international levels.
- Legal Integration: Bridge gaps between fragmented international legal regimes, supporting unified legal norms and coordination mechanisms.
- Collective Stewardship: Ensure fair and equitable responsibility-sharing among governments, private sector leaders, and civil society actors.
4. Mentorship, Strategic Guidance & Representation
- Mentorship: Provide strategic mentorship to emerging leaders and innovators in the global risk and sustainability sector.
- Advocacy & Representation: Represent GCRI in international forums, fostering high-impact partnerships with key stakeholders and policymakers.
About Nexus Governance
The Planetary Nexus Governance model revolutionizes global risk management by treating sustainability challenges as interdependent and interconnected rather than isolated. Expanding on traditional nexus approaches, this framework integrates issues such as climate change, ecosystem degradation, water scarcity, energy insecurity, and food shortages into a cohesive planetary governance strategy. Qualifications & Expertise
- ✔ Extensive expertise in international law, global governance, risk management, or related fields.
- ✔ Proven experience in board governance, particularly in multilateral or multi-stakeholder contexts.
- ✔ Strong track record in investment, fundraising, or capital development, with an ability to mobilize resourcesfor sustainability and risk management initiatives.
- ✔ Prior experience mentoring emerging leaders and advising on international legal frameworks.

Commitments
