Chairperson of the Board- Global Risks Alliance (GRA)
Leadership NewBookmark Details
The Global Risks Alliance (GRA) is the financial governance pillar of the Global Centre for Risk and Innovation (GCRI). Established to accelerate global cooperation in Disaster Risk Finance (DRF), climate-aligned investment, and risk-resilient capital markets, GRA serves as a multilateral alliance of public agencies, sovereign entities, institutional investors, and development finance partners.
Through cross-sector coordination, treaty-aligned financial instruments, and interoperable governance infrastructure, GRA supports the deployment of foresight-driven capital strategies in alignment with the 2030 Agenda, Sendai Framework, and global ESG mandates.
Role Overview
As GRA enters its institutional maturity phase, GCRI invites expressions of interest for the position of Chairperson Designate of the Global Risks Alliance Board. The formal Board of Directors will be inaugurated in early 2026, and the Chairperson will be selected from among 2025 Leaders Council members, who will contribute to GRA’s transitional governance, capital roadmap, and multilateral alignment processes.
The Chairperson will preside over Board sessions, steward the Alliance’s financial governance principles, and represent GRA across multilateral forums, public-private dialogues, and treaty-finance platforms. The position entails active collaboration with national and regional capital leads, sovereign partners, and international financial institutions.
Eligibility and Attributes
GRA welcomes interest from accomplished professionals with demonstrated experience in:
- Financial governance, sovereign capital strategy, or global finance diplomacy
- Leadership roles in public investment bodies, development finance institutions, or systemic risk management initiatives
- Board governance or fiduciary oversight in multilateral or cross-border contexts
- Familiarity with DRF, ESG, blended finance, or parametric instruments
- Proven ability to engage across both public sector and institutional capital networks
- A commitment to the equitable deployment of risk-aligned capital for resilience and long-term public benefit
An advanced degree in finance, economics, international law, public administration, or a related discipline is preferred.
Engagement Pathway
- All Chairperson candidates must first join the GRA Leaders Council in 2025, contributing to quarterly strategic sessions, multilateral finance dialogues, and capital policy formulation.
- The formal Board of Directors will be appointed in early 2026, with nominations drawn exclusively from active 2025 Council members.
- The Chairperson will be elected by the Board and formally confirmed by GCRI’s Central Bureau.
This is a non-remunerated position aligned with the principles of public service, multilateral governance, and long-term capital stewardship. It offers an opportunity to shape the future of global risk financing and participate in foundational infrastructure design for sovereign-grade financial resilience.
Expression of Interest
This opportunity is intended for individuals in full-time leadership roles who seek to engage in the global governance of risk finance at the highest level of integrity and foresight. If you are committed to advancing a new architecture for multilateral capital deployment—rooted in equity, accountability, and systemic resilience—we invite you to express interest in joining the 2025 Leaders Council as a pathway to formal board leadership.
