Platforms that contribute.
What the series covers and at what unit.
Editions use structured foresight (horizon scanning, scenarios, cross-impact analysis) and state the assumptions behind each scenario.
| Element | In this series |
|---|---|
| Unit of analysis | A theme over a ten- to thirty-year horizon |
| Method | Horizon scanning, scenario development, cross-impact analysis, expert elicitation with stated protocol |
What an edition of this series does not do.
- Predict the future or assign probabilities to scenarios without a basis.
- Present one scenario as preferred.
- Replace national foresight processes.
The Foundry systems an edition draws on.
What each system is designed to supply to Foresight Outlook; an edition cites a record only once it exists and has passed review.
| System | Rooms | Designed to supply |
|---|---|---|
| NXS-DSS (decision cases and deliberation) | Scenarios | Reproducible alternative futures over long horizons |
| NXS-GRX (canonical data, provenance and risk) | Fusion | The weak signals fused from heterogeneous observations |
No edition is scheduled yet.
This series has no edition in the Baseline programme. Its editors commission editions from the first operational quarter. A planned edition is never shown as released.
Where the series’ subjects are taught.
Risk Academy, led by the Nexus Consortium, teaches the subjects of Foresight Outlook in these disciplines; the Global Centre for Risk and Innovation (GCRI) links to the Academy as a partner and does not provide its courses.
