Position Summary
The Global Centre for Risk and Innovation (GCRI) invites seasoned executive leaders to submit proposals for the role of Regional Chief Executive Officer (CEO) – North America. This role anchors the regional leadership of GCRI’s scientific programming, GRA’s capital coordination platforms, and GRF’s multilateral engagement across Canada, the United States, and Mexico.
Structured under the Planetary Nexus Governance (PNG) framework, this role empowers the selected candidate to shape and lead a sovereign-grade, intergenerational infrastructure for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Disaster Risk Finance (DRF), and Disaster Risk Intelligence (DRI), in full compliance with global mandates and national priorities.
The position is not salaried from GCRI or GRA directly. Instead, it operates on a proposal-based appointment model, enabling the selected executive to structure their compensation based on fundraising, membership, licensing, and performance benchmarks through the regionally hosted legal entity (e.g., GRA North America Chapter or Association).
Organizational Context
- GCRI is a scientific institution in special consultative status with ECOSOC, serving as the R&D custodian of the Nexus Ecosystem and operator of multilateral foresight infrastructure.
- GRA is the regional risk alliance and capital coordination platform, serving as the business league for institutional members across finance, insurance, philanthropy, and public agencies.
- GRF is the public diplomacy and multilateral dialogue forum for scenario-based governance, simulation-grounded foresight, and participatory treaty alignment.
Together, GCRI, GRA, and GRF form a unique three-pillar system for regional and global engagement, embedded within sovereign and clause-certified digital infrastructure.
Core Responsibilities
- Institutional Development:
Establish and operationalize the North America legal host for GRA/GRF, ensuring full compliance with regional governance, tax, and nonprofit frameworks. - Fundraising and Capital Mobilization:
Design and implement a sustainable revenue model tied to performance, including multilateral funding, philanthropic capital, institutional memberships, and aligned ESG contributions. - Membership Growth and Alliances:
Lead the onboarding of founding institutional members across financial, academic, governmental, and civil society sectors. Build a strong alliance network across North America. - Multilateral Representation:
Serve as the North America focal point for engagements with the United Nations system, Bretton Woods Institutions, and regional multilateral platforms. - Regional Strategy Execution:
Implement Nexus foresight, capital deployment, and public-benefit infrastructure strategies aligned with global Sendai Framework, SDG, ESG, and OECD mandates. - Stakeholder Coordination:
Lead coordination among National Working Groups (NWGs), Bioregional Assemblies, and Specialized Leadership Boards in the region. - Governance Participation:
Actively contribute to the Planetary Nexus Governance system, reporting to the Regional Stewardship Board (RSB) and engaging with the Central Bureau (CB) on mandate performance. - Public Engagement and Diplomacy:
Represent GCRI, GRA, and GRF in high-level dialogues, media briefings, public campaigns, and regional innovation showcases. - Legal and IP Compliance:
Ensure adherence to ClauseCommons protocols, licensing safeguards, and fiduciary duty as defined by GCRI statutes and international IP governance. - Succession and Ecosystem Building:
Mentor future regional leaders and institutionalize knowledge systems for long-term resilience and continuity of operations.
