Role Description

The GCRI Board Member is a volunteer role that will participate in quarterly board meetings remotely. As a Board Member, you will be responsible for providing oversight, strategic direction, and support to the organization. The Board Member will participate in discussions and decision-making related to the organization’s mission and activities, serve as an ambassador for GCRI, participate in fundraising and outreach activities, and contribute to the organization’s growth and development.

Responsibilities

  1. Governance and Oversight:
    • Ensure that GCRI operates with integrity and adheres to its mission and values.
    • Oversee the organization’s operations, ensuring it is effectively managed and achieves its strategic objectives.
    • Review and approve GCRI’s annual budget, audit reports, and material business decisions.
  2. Strategic Direction:
    • Collaborate with other board members and the CEO to set the strategic direction for GCRI.
    • Review and approve GCRI’s strategic plan and ensure regular monitoring of its implementation.
  3. Fundraising:
    • Assist in identifying and securing financial resources for GCRI.
    • Leverage personal networks and connections to support fundraising efforts.
  4. CEO Support and Evaluation:
    • Offer support and constructive feedback to the CEO.
    • Regularly review the CEO’s performance, providing guidance and direction as needed.
  5. Board Development:
    • Assist in identifying and recruiting new board members.
    • Ensure board members receive appropriate orientation and actively participate in board training sessions.
  6. Legal and Risk Management:
    • Understand and oversee the legal and fiduciary responsibilities of the board.
    • Ensure that GCRI complies with all legal and regulatory requirements.
    • Identify potential risks and ensure they are appropriately managed.
  7. Community and Public Relations:
    • Act as an ambassador for GCRI, representing the organization to stakeholders, partners, and the general public.
    • Foster strong relationships with the communities GCRI serves.

Time commitment

  • Attend and actively participate in [quarterly/ monthly] board meetings.
