02Mandate

Evidence on ecosystem integrity and nature-related risk.

The platform exists to produce credible, reusable evidence on the condition of ecosystems, the drivers of biodiversity loss and the consequences of that loss for human and economic systems. It treats nature as infrastructure that societies depend on, and it measures that dependence with stated methods and uncertainty.

Field

Scope

Biodiversity and nature, with links to climate and hazards and to oceans and coasts.

Community

Who takes part

Ecologists, conservation scientists, land managers, Indigenous and community stewards and biodiversity data experts.

Outputs

What it publishes

Biodiversity evidence notes, ecosystem maps and restoration evaluation guides, each with its method and limits.

03Publisher

Who is responsible.

The Global Centre for Risk and Innovation (GCRI) publishes Biodiversity Nexus and answers for its content. Editorial responsibility sits with the platform’s expert editor under GCRI’s review rules; the publication record, corrections and conflicts of interest are handled under trust, rights and status.

  • Status: Biodiversity Nexus is an established platform. Its existing community and published address are preserved, and earlier activity is described as current only once its records are confirmed.
  • Open for information and enquiries. Applications, data services and registrations open only when their team, terms and review capacity exist.
  • Why a dedicated platform: biodiversity science has its own methods, communities and data obligations, distinct from climate and hazards and from financial analysis of nature.
04Limits

What the platform does not do.

  • It does not regulate, license, certify or approve any project, product, credit or organisation.
  • It does not decide land or sea use, protected-area designation or species listing; those decisions belong to competent authorities and rights holders.
  • It does not speak for Indigenous peoples or local communities, and it does not use their knowledge without consent.
  • It does not give financial advice. Financial exposure to nature is examined as sector analysis at Climate and Nature Financial Risk at GRA, and policy dialogue happens at Climate and Nature Governance at the Global Risks Forum (GRF).

Taking part, hosting or sponsorship gives no authority, appointment or influence over findings.
