01In brief

The short answer.

Biodiversity Nexus tools are the public technical views the platform releases on biodiversity and nature: maps and model descriptions, each with its time and space reference, sources, licence and uncertainty. Analysis runs in Nexus Foundry for authorized projects, and data that is not released is not available through these pages.

02Canvas

Scoping to review.

Data and technical methods: from layers to a published mapLayers are ingested with their licences, reprojected and harmonised, analysed (overlay, zonal statistics, indices), checked for uncertainty and published as a map with its passport. Design of the process, not a record of a run.

03Geography

Digital demand and connectivity in Indonesia.

Urban demand centres and the hubs that anchor digital and data infrastructure, shown for Indonesia as an example geography for this subject.

05Fitness for purpose

What every biodiversity tool should state about itself.

  • The ecosystem classification used.
  • The accuracy of land-cover products and their date.
  • Whether a layer shows designation, condition or service flow.
06Build environment

Working with the tools.

Analysis runs in Nexus Foundry for authorized projects. Public pages show released views only, each with its time and space reference and its rights.

07Key terms

Terms used on this page.

Each term as this page uses it. Where a standard-setting body defines the term, the wording follows that body.

TermDefinition
Public-safe releaseA recorded decision on the detail at which a layer may be published without exposing sensitive sites or people.
Coordinate reference systemThe definition that ties coordinates to locations on Earth, catalogued with EPSG codes.
Model cardA short document describing a model's intended use, training data, performance and limits.
09Pages

10Questions

Questions and answers.

Can I use the data?
Each released view states its licence and terms. Data that is not released is not available through these pages.

Bring your expertise to this field.

The current service level is R0: information and enquiries. An enquiry receives a reference and names the next step; applications, payments, compute allocations and registrations open only when their team, terms and review capacity exist.
