Trust, rights and status

Who publishes Biodiversity Nexus, what is known and how it is labelled, how data rights are protected, and the platform's current status.

01In brief

The short answer.

Trust, rights and status at Biodiversity Nexus is the public record of who publishes the platform, how its results are labelled, how data rights are protected and what the platform is today. The Global Centre for Risk and Innovation (GCRI) publishes it and controls the personal data it holds. Being named, listed or published on the platform is not an endorsement, certification or approval.

Report to outcome.

How a correction moves on Biodiversity NexusA report is acknowledged and triaged; a reviewer not involved in the original work assesses it; the outcome is a new version with its history or a reasoned decline, and the reporter is told either way. Design of the workflow, not a record.

04Status

What the platform is, today.

  • Biodiversity Nexus is an established platform published by The Global Centre for Risk and Innovation.
  • The current service level is R0: information and enquiries. An enquiry receives a reference and names the next step; applications, payments, compute allocations and registrations open only when their team, terms and review capacity exist.
  • GCRI is a research, development and policy institution. It is not a regulator, and it does not certify, license or approve; its findings carry their methods and uncertainty.
05Integrity in this field

Where biodiversity evidence is most often misused.

  • Exact locations of threatened species and sensitive sites are generalised.
  • Indigenous and local knowledge is used only with free, prior and informed consent, under the CARE principles.
  • Valuation figures can be misused to justify trade-offs; physical evidence is shown first.
  • Claims about offsets or credits are not made; methods are described, with their limits.
