01In brief

The short answer.

Climate and Hazards publications are the platform's reviewed, citable outputs, such as hazard evidence guides, regional risk explainers and scenario limitations. Each carries its authors, date, method, evidence labels and editorial status, and a correction creates a new version with its history. Contributions to series such as Global Systems Risk and Resilience as well as Observatory Signal also appear in Nexus Reports.

Research and publications: an edition from outline to correctionAn outline is agreed; chapters are drafted; every value is traced in the data check; peer reviewers with declared conflicts review; the editor decides; the edition is released with an identifier and corrected only by new versions. Design of the process, not a record of a run.

03Geography

Climate signals in World.

For research and publications, in GCRI's spatial-intelligence reading, the map opens on true-colour imagery and land cover, framed on World; 4 further NASA layers wait in the list.

The interactive map needs JavaScript; the layer list and sources are below.

04What is published

Every output shows its status.

  • Each publication carries its authors, date, method, evidence labels and editorial status.
  • Corrections create a new version with its history.
  • Series contributions also appear in Nexus Reports; see Publish in Nexus Reports.
05Output types

What hazard publications look like.

Hazard publications state scenario, period, ensemble and bias correction on every figure, and attribution statements state method and confidence. Observatory signal notes report new observations quickly, with the caveat that a single season is not a trend.

  • Hazard method notes.
  • Observatory signal notes.
  • Compound hazard scenarios.
07Key terms

Terms used on this page.

Each term as this page uses it. Where a standard-setting body defines the term, the wording follows that body.

TermDefinition
Version of recordThe fixed version of a work that a publisher formally declares published; later changes appear as dated corrections or new versions, never as silent edits, in the sense NISO's journal article versions recommendation uses.
Peer reviewEvaluation of a work by independent experts in the field before publication.
CorrectionA published notice that amends an error in a work whose main findings stand.
Evidence labelA tag on an assertion naming the kind of evidence behind it, such as observed, officially reported or modelled.
