Biodiversity Nexus · Programme portfolioProgramme portfolio, in outline: domain structure with placeholder names and illustrative values, not a record.
Biodiversity Nexus regional applications address problems in the biodiversity and nature field that the countries of a region share, such as species and genetic diversity, and the cooperation that responds to them. Each application is listed with its status from the programme record, and regional bodies and governments keep their own mandates and decisions.

Mountain ranges, deserts, wetlands, glaciers and reefs, and how remote each division is from large cities, shown for the Congo Basin as an example geography for this subject.
Habitat condition and ecological thresholds.
Species populations and genetic diversity.
Forest health and landscape fragmentation.
Watershed and wetland resilience.
Marine ecosystems, fish stocks and coastal integrity.
Monitoring and effectiveness.
Ecosystems ignore borders: migratory flyways, river basins and shared seas need regional cooperation, and regional conventions and commissions provide the frame.
Programmes are listed as exploring, forming, constituted, active, paused or archived. Country and regional entries appear when a programme record supports them.
Each term as this page uses it. Where a standard-setting body defines the term, the wording follows that body.
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Subsidiarity | The principle that a decision is taken at the lowest level able to take it well, with a higher level acting only where the objective cannot be achieved closer to the people concerned; the Treaty on European Union states it. |
| Multi-level governance | Shared decision-making across local, regional, national and international levels of government. |
| IUCN Red List | The global assessment of species' extinction risk, with categories from Least Concern to Extinct based on standard criteria. |
