Research and evidence: institutional oversight of researchCapacity and oversight only: proposals go to an institutional committee, reviewed under national rules, approved with conditions, supported by training, audited, and incidents are reported to the national body. Design of the process, not a record of a run.

01In brief

The short answer.

Health Nexus research is the evidence work behind the platform: questions such as health system continuity and One Health, answered with epidemiology and public health science as well as molecular and life sciences and reviewed before publication. Every result carries an evidence label, from observed to modelled or expert judgement, and missing data is shown as missing, never filled silently.

02Geography

Access to care in Pacific Island states.

How far each division sits from a large city, with the roads and airports that carry patients and supplies, shown for Pacific Island states as an example geography for this subject.

03Questions

What the research asks.

  1. 01

    Health system continuity

Hospitals, staff, power and essential services.

  2. 02

    One Health

    Human, animal and ecosystem interdependence.

  3. 03

    Infectious threats

    Outbreak readiness, surveillance and uncertainty.

  4. 04

    Health equity

Unequal exposure and access to services.

  5. 05

    Environmental health

Water, air, heat, pollution and health.

  6. 06

    Health supply chains

Medicines, cold chain and health logistics.

04Open questions

What health research cannot yet answer well enough for decisions.

The health agenda looks at the capacities that decide how a threat becomes a crisis: detection, surge, supply and the social conditions that let people follow public health advice.

  • How do hospitals keep critical services running through combined heat, power loss and staff shortage? See health system continuity.
  • Where are supply chains for essential medicines, diagnostics and protective equipment most concentrated? See health supply chains.
  • Which land-use and animal-health signals give earliest warning of spillover risk? See One Health.
  • How does exposure to heat, air pollution and water contamination combine with deprivation? See environmental health and health equity.
  • What failure modes do digital health systems add, from ransomware to data loss? See digital health risk.
05Evidence

Every result keeps its label.

Results are labelled as observed, officially reported, estimated, modelled, forecast, scenario or expert judgement. Missing data is shown as missing, never filled silently.

TermDefinition
Research integrityConduct of research in line with principles of reliability, honesty, respect and accountability, as the European Code of Conduct for Research Integrity sets them out.
Evidence labelA tag on an assertion naming the kind of evidence behind it, such as observed, officially reported or modelled.
ReproducibilityObtaining consistent results using the same data and analysis code as the original study.
ZoonosisAn infectious disease transmitted between animals and people.

09Questions

Questions and answers.

Can I propose a research question?
Yes. Write to contact@therisk.global with the question, the context and who would use the answer. A proposal receives a reference; it does not commit the platform to the work.

The current service level is R0: information and enquiries. An enquiry receives a reference and names the next step; applications, payments, compute allocations and registrations open only when their team, terms and review capacity exist.
