Submit and request review
How to ask for a record, request a review or report a correction. Contributions arrive through a gateway, are routed to the body that decides, and are answered in the open for standards. Submitting confers no authority and no authorship.
Three ways to submit.
| Route | Use it for | Gateway |
|---|---|---|
| Reports gateway | Evidence, a correction, a case, a method, a review, a translation or profile input, tagged with the page you send it from. | GW-GCRI |
| The standards process | A new or changed standard, an erratum, a code or schema contribution, or a comment on a draft. | GW-STD |
| The Secretariat | A question about a record, a rights concern or a request to list something. | the contact form |
What can be submitted, and who answers.
From the participation register of the Nexus Standards. Every contribution type routes to a body that exists.
| Type | Role | Routed to | Then |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apply to a working group or a call | contributor | SEC | The Secretariat checks eligibility and balance; the working group convenor or the Council decides. |
| Comment on a standard, part or proposal | observer | ED | The editors dispose of every comment with a reason; dispositions are published with the draft. |
| Propose a new standard, a change or an erratum | contributor | TC | The committee decides whether to open an NS-13 proposal; editors draft it. |
| Report an error or a gap | observer | ED | Fixed as errata, carried to a revision, or answered. |
| Offer code, schemas, test vectors or a reference implementation | contributor | TC | Reviewed by WG-DEV or the owning working group; accepted code is carried into the canonical repository by its maintainers. |
| Offer a translation or a plain-language summary | contributor | TC | WG-ACC assigns and reviews it. |
| Register to observe a Council or committee session | observer | SEC | The Secretariat sends the link and the papers. |
| Request a liaison (standards bodies and public authorities) | observer | SEC | Put to the Council at its next session. |
| Express interest in national adoption or a National Standards Council | observer | SEC | The Secretariat follows up under the national adoption and sovereignty rules. |
A change to a standard is an NS-13 proposal.
Anyone may file; there is no fee. A proposal moves through OPEN, In review, Last call, ACCEPTED / REJECTED / WITHDRAWN, ADOPTED, Version and changelog, with a public disposition for every comment, and editors never adopt. See the state machine for the states.
Ask for something to be listed, or reviewed.
- Name the record type, the identifier if there is one, and the register that holds the source.
- Say who stewards it and under what licence.
- Records are listed from their registers; if the register does not have it, the request goes to the owner of that register first.
Keep personal and sensitive data out.
- Never send personal data, sensitive infrastructure detail or anything you have no right to share.
- A contribution is reviewed before use. Sending it confers no authorship or editorial rights, and sponsorship never changes a finding.
