Disaster Resilience and Recovery subject groups are moderated forums where disaster scholars and emergency planners discuss open questions in the disaster and crisis field, such as risk reduction policy and preparedness and continuity. Each group is listed once its moderation, terms and hosting are in place, with its scope and how to join. A group informs the platform's work and has no authority over its findings.

For subject groups, in GCRI's spatial-intelligence reading, the map opens on population density, true-colour imagery and night lights with true colour from NASA GIBS, framed on the Philippines; every other NASA layer, live feed and forecast waits in the layer list.

Layers and dates
Disaster groups follow the phases of risk: one on loss accounting with statistics offices, one on anticipatory action with humanitarian and forecasting specialists, one on recovery with planners and engineers.
Write to contact@therisk.global. The acknowledgement gives a reference and names the next step.
Each term as this page uses it. Where a standard-setting body defines the term, the wording follows that body.
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Community of practice | A group of people who share a concern or a craft and learn to do it better by interacting regularly; the term comes from Lave and Wenger's work on situated learning. |
| Chatham House Rule | A rule under which participants may use information received but may not reveal the identity or affiliation of speakers. |
| Vulnerability | The conditions that increase the susceptibility of people, assets or systems to the impacts of hazards. |
| Sendai Framework | The United Nations framework, adopted by member states, that sets seven targets and four priorities for reducing disaster risk. |

The current service level is R0: information and enquiries. An enquiry receives a reference and names the next step; applications, payments, compute allocations and registrations open only when their team, terms and review capacity exist.
