Research and publications: systematic evidence synthesisA question is framed with its owner and a protocol registered; records are searched, screened and checked for eligibility by two reviewers; data are extracted, synthesised and graded for certainty before a brief is written. Design of the process, not a record of a run.

01In brief

The short answer.

Food Nexus publications are the platform's reviewed, citable outputs, such as food-system vulnerability briefs, agrifood dependency maps and resilience methods. Each carries its authors, date, method, evidence labels and editorial status, and a correction creates a new version with its history. Contributions to series such as Global Sector Risk and Resilience as well as Country Systems Risk and Resilience also appear in Nexus Reports.

02Geography

Food systems and trade routes in Southeast Asia.

Plains, deltas and basins, the corridors that carry food to ports, and how far each division sits from one, shown for Southeast Asia as an example geography for this subject.

03What is published

Every output shows its status.

  • Each publication carries its authors, date, method, evidence labels and editorial status.
  • Corrections create a new version with its history.
  • Series contributions also appear in Nexus Reports; see Publish in Nexus Reports.
04Output types

What food system publications look like.

Food system publications are timed to the agricultural calendar: outlooks before planting and harvest, shock analysis when prices move. Each states the season, the commodity balance it rests on and whether household access was assessed or only supply.

  • Season evidence briefs on crop and market conditions, labelled by evidence type.
  • Method notes on crop and market models.
  • Country food system chapters in Country Systems editions.

Peer reviewEvaluation of a work by independent experts in the field before publication.
CorrectionA published notice that amends an error in a work whose main findings stand.
Evidence labelA tag on an assertion naming the kind of evidence behind it, such as observed, officially reported or modelled.
