Published evidence

Nexus Labs, a platform of The Global Centre for Risk and Innovation (GCRI), publishes the results of its experiments, testbeds and challenges, negative as well as positive. This page lists results once each has been reviewed and released, with the protocol it tested, the reproduction record and any correction. No result is shown until its record exists. The current service level is R0: information and enquiries.

01In brief

The short answer.

Nexus Labs results are the reviewed outcomes of its experiments, testbeds and challenges, negative as well as positive, each released with the protocol it tested, its reproduction record and any correction. No result is shown until its record exists, and a result is not a certification.

02Geography

Hazards and exposure in World.

For published evidence, in GCRI's spatial-intelligence reading, the map opens on true-colour imagery and land cover with true colour from NASA GIBS, framed on World; every other NASA layer, live feed and forecast waits in the layer list.

The interactive map needs JavaScript; the layer list and sources are below.

03What is released

A result is published with its record.

Design

The protocol it tested

The hypothesis and method, and any deviation from them.

Reproduction

The reproduction record

Who tried to reproduce it, how, and with what outcome.

Limits

Uncertainty and limits

What the result does not show, and the conditions under which it holds.

04Negative results

A result that fails is still evidence.

A hypothesis that did not hold, a method that did not reproduce or a candidate technology that failed a test is published with the same care as a success. An inconclusive result is labelled inconclusive, not rounded up to a finding. Failure records protect others from repeating the work and keep the evidence base honest. See reproducibility and negative results.

05Release and correction

How results are released and corrected.

  1. 01

    Review

Independent review records approval, required changes or rejection, with dissent kept.

  2. 02

    Release

Results are released on rights-cleared terms, with funding and conflicts disclosed, and with a research object package where data and code can be shared.

  3. 03

    Correct

A correction, supersession or withdrawal is published as a new version. The earlier version stays available, marked.

  4. 04

    Propagate

Dependent datasets, models, applications and publications are identified so their owners can act. Each correction names what changed, why and who reviewed it.

06Key terms

Terms used on this page.

Each term as this page uses it. Where a standard-setting body defines the term, the wording follows that body.

TermDefinition
Null resultA finding of no detectable effect, which still informs future campaigns when published.
Publication biasThe tendency for studies with positive or significant results to be published more often than others.
Computational reproducibilityRe-running the original data and code and obtaining the reported results.
07Current state

No result is listed yet.

Results appear here as each is released. Longer syntheses are designed to appear in the Labs Evidence and Methods and Technical series of Nexus Reports, and released records can be traced through Nexus Registry.

A published result is evidence with stated limits. It is not certification, regulatory approval or a procurement status.

08Questions

Questions and answers.

Can a funder stop a result being published?
No. Funding is disclosed, and no funder can buy or block a finding.
How do I report an error in a result?
Write to integrity@therisk.global. The review is recorded, and any correction is published as a new version.
Can I reuse published data and code?
Where the result's licence allows, yes, with the attribution it requests. Restricted material is not published.
Why is no result listed yet?
Results are listed only after independent review and release. The page does not show draft or illustrative findings presented as results.
Who decides whether a result is accepted?
Independent reviewers, following the protocol's acceptance criteria. Their decision, any conditions and any dissent are part of the published record.
