GCRI · How Nexus Consortium works

Six programme regions

Six programme regions and fifteen planned hubs. The Global Centre for Risk and Innovation (GCRI) coordinates them as Consortium Secretariat. Regions compare compatible evidence on systems that cross borders: basins, grids, corridors, health systems. Each country keeps its own data and decisions. Coverage and formation are shown apart, each with its record. Part of How Nexus Consortium works.

Fifteen planned hubs in total. A hub is a planned coordination or service role in a region. It is never an office or an exclusive territory. It operates only once its host decision is on record.

04Coverage and formation

Coverage is not formation.

Coverage

Research scope

The 193 United Nations member states and the two observer states are in scope for research coverage and formation enquiries. See Countries and research profiles.

Formation

Recorded states

Each region, named programme and country carries its own state, taken from a record. See Programme status.

Overlap

Relationships, not territory

North African states take part in both Africa and the Middle East and North Africa; Mexico in both North America and Latin America and the Caribbean.

06Records

What is on record today.

  • Consortium Secretariat seat: GCRI Canada, Toronto. No other regional host is recorded.
  • Named programmes in formation: the East Asia Nexus Consortium, the Eurasia Nexus Consortium and the Canada Nexus Consortium, each with a public programme page published by The Global Risks Alliance (GRA).
  • Planned hubs: fifteen, none operating.
  • Regional desks: six, listed above, which receive mail and give each enquiry a reference.
07Shared systems

Why regions exist at all.

Many of the largest risks travel through shared infrastructure and ecosystems: a dam upstream, an interconnector, a strait, a subsea cable. Regional work is designed to examine those dependencies with compatible methods, without merging national data or authority. See Cross-border risk systems, and The Global Risks Forum (GRF) view on Regional cooperation.

09Questions

Questions and answers.

Why six regions when earlier pages showed more?
The six-region register is the current record. Earlier site menus with a different count are being reconciled with it.
Are hubs offices?
No. A planned hub is a coordination role. No hub host decision is on record, so none is operating.
Which regions have active programmes?
None. All six regions are recorded as in formation.
How do I contact a region?
Write to the regional desk listed in the table. The acknowledgement gives a reference and names the next step.

Information and enquiries are open today. An enquiry receives a reference and names the next step; applications, payments, compute allocations and registrations open only when their team, terms and review capacity exist.
