01In brief

The short answer.

GCRI's institutional statuses are the accreditations and memberships it holds, published in their exact recorded wording on the owner's confirmation. They belong to GCRI alone: they do not extend to GRF, GRA, national consortiums or participants, and they are not endorsements of Nexus programmes by the bodies that issued them.

Mandate to authority.

How The Global Centre for Risk and Innovation is governedA mandate sets the platform's scope; an editor and reviewers govern what it publishes; programmes and the community supply the work; the integrity route handles corrections; authority over decisions stays outside. 05Scope

What a status means, and what it does not.

Belongs to

GCRI only

A status attaches to GCRI. It is never extended to GRF, GRA, a consortium, a host, a member or a project.

Confers

No authority

Participation in an international body gives GCRI no regulatory, sovereign or fiduciary authority, and no privileged access.

Implies

No endorsement

The bodies named have not endorsed Nexus programmes, findings or products by granting a status.

06Use

Rules for anyone citing these statuses.

  • Quote the status in the exact wording above, with the full name of the body.
  • Do not use the logo or name of a body named here to suggest partnership, sponsorship or approval.
  • Do not attribute a GCRI status to another institution or to a Nexus programme.
  • Where a date is not recorded, do not supply one.
07Key terms

Terms used on this page.

Each term as this page uses it. Where a standard-setting body defines the term, the wording follows that body.

TermDefinition
AffiliationA recorded relationship, such as accreditation, membership or observer status, between an organization and another body; listing it implies no endorsement unless the other body says so.
Consultative statusA standing granted by the UN Economic and Social Council to a non-governmental organization under Council resolution 1996/31, allowing it to take part in the Council's work; it confers no endorsement of the organization's activities.
Public accountabilityThe obligation of an institution to explain and justify its conduct to the public and to bodies that can question it, and to face consequences, as the OECD frames accountability in governance.
08Relationships

Statuses are not partnerships.

A status is GCRI's standing in a body. A collaboration with a named institution is a different thing, shown only with a current permission record on Institutional relationships. The status of The Global Risks Forum (GRF) is described on its own institutional status page.

09Questions

Questions and answers.

Does ECOSOC status make GCRI part of the United Nations?
No. Special consultative status allows a non-governmental organization to take part in the Council's work as provided by its rules. It does not make GCRI a UN body or give it UN authority.
Do these statuses apply to GRF or GRA?
No. They belong to GCRI only.
How can I verify a status?
The issuing body's own record is authoritative. If you find a discrepancy, write to the integrity address below and it will be reviewed.
How do I report misuse of a status?
Write to integrity@therisk.global with where the status was used and how.
