The Global Centre for Risk and Innovation (GCRI)
The science, technology, engineering and mathematics Energy Nexus rests on. Each method has a canonical page in the STEM Commons, hosted by GCRI, and a page here on how it is applied in this field.

The Energy Nexus STEM foundation is the set of canonical methods its findings depend on, from energy generation, storage and grid technology to process and industrial safety engineering. For the Consortium, Energy Nexus stewards energy generation, storage and grid technology as well as power systems engineering. Each method has a canonical STEM Commons page and a page here on its use in the energy field.

Where demand concentrates in cities and the rail, road and port corridors that move fuel and equipment, shown for Germany as an example geography for this subject.
Energy risk is a problem of engineered networks under weather and market stress. Power engineering and energy technology describe the system, forecasting and optimisation plan and run it, network science and resilience engineering describe how it fails and recovers, and materials chemistry and process safety cover fuels, batteries and plants.
When a finding names the methods it depends on, a reader can see its assumptions and limits, and an expert in that method can challenge it.
Each term as this page uses it. Where a standard-setting body defines the term, the wording follows that body.
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| STEM Commons | The shared reference of science, technology, engineering and mathematics methods for the Nexus network, hosted by GCRI, with one canonical page per method and a named steward platform. |
| Steward platform | The platform that maintains the canonical description of a method in the STEM Commons and reviews how other platforms apply it. |
| Energy generation, storage and grid technology | Energy generation, storage and grid technology cover the devices and systems that produce, store and deliver energy. |
| Power systems engineering | Power systems engineering designs and operates the networks that generate, transmit and distribute electricity. |
The bodies and documents this page is read against. Status and editions change; each link goes to the issuing body.
The current service level is R0: information and enquiries. An enquiry receives a reference and names the next step; applications, payments, compute allocations and registrations open only when their team, terms and review capacity exist.
