Role Description

The Manager of Events and Workshops at GCRI is pivotal in orchestrating impactful events that resonate with the organization’s mission and vision. This role encompasses the strategic planning, execution, and post-event analysis of various events, ranging from intimate workshops to large-scale conferences. The manager will ensure that each event provides value to attendees, enhances GCRI’s reputation, and fosters collaborative opportunities.

Responsibilities

  1. Event Planning and Strategy:
    • Design and implement a comprehensive event strategy aligned with GCRI’s objectives.
    • Identify event themes, topics, and speakers that resonate with GCRI’s mission and audience.
  2. Logistics and Operations:
    • Oversee all logistical aspects of events, including venue selection, catering, technology setup, and attendee registration.
    • Coordinate with vendors and service providers to ensure seamless event execution.
  3. Budget Management:
    • Develop and manage event budgets, ensuring cost-effective solutions without compromising on quality.
    • Monitor expenses and provide regular budget updates to GCRI’s leadership.
  4. Marketing and Promotion:
    • Collaborate with the marketing team to design promotional campaigns for events.
    • Utilize various channels, including social media, email, and partnerships, to maximize event attendance.
  5. Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Engage with speakers, sponsors, and partners to ensure their active participation and satisfaction.
    • Foster relationships that can lead to collaborative opportunities for GCRI.
  6. Post-Event Analysis:
    • Gather feedback from attendees, speakers, and stakeholders to assess event success.
    • Analyze event metrics and provide insights for continuous improvement.
  7. Team Management:
    • Lead and mentor the events team, ensuring clear communication and efficient task delegation.
    • Foster a collaborative team environment that encourages creativity and innovation.

Qualifications

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Event Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related field. Certifications in event planning or project management are a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in event management, with a proven track record of organizing successful events. Experience in a nonprofit or research-oriented organization is advantageous.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with event management software and tools, such as Eventbrite or Cvent.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, vendors, and team members.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, with the skill to convey event concepts and plans clearly.
  • Organizational Skills: Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple events simultaneously.
  • Adaptability: Ability to navigate unforeseen challenges and make real-time decisions to ensure event success.

 

Compensation & Benefits

Base Compensation: This position is primarily on a volunteer basis, underscoring the dedication and enthusiasm for GCRI’s overarching mission and goals.
