02For journalists

What you can ask for.

GCRI can help reporters understand interconnected risks, the evidence behind a finding and the limits of what is known. Requests are routed to the person responsible for the work concerned.

Briefing

Source-linked briefings

Briefings on released public evidence, with the sources, methods and uncertainty behind it.

Assets

Assets with usage rights

Logos, figures and photographs only with stated usage rights. Licence terms are described on rights and licences.

03Statements

How GCRI statements are issued.

  1. 01

    Dated and attributed

Each statement carries its date and names the organization that issues it, GCRI Canada or GCRI US.

  2. 02

    Within GCRI's role

GCRI speaks for its own work. It does not speak for The Global Risk Forum (GRF), The Global Risk Alliance (GRA), national programmes or participating institutions.

  3. 03

    Evidence-linked

Any finding cited in a statement links to its published source in publications, with its evidence label.

  4. 04

    Corrected in the open

A correction to a statement is published as a new version with its history, under corrections and updates.

04Independence

Editorial independence is never bought.

No sponsorship or membership buys coverage, a finding or the suppression of a limitation. GRF and GRA have their own media contacts, listed on their sites, for example GRF news and notices.

GCRI's statuses and memberships belong to GCRI only and are not endorsements of Nexus programmes by the bodies named.

05Questions

Questions and answers.

How quickly does GCRI respond to media requests?
No response time is promised at the current service level. Include your deadline; the acknowledgement gives a reference and names the next step.
Can I use GCRI's logo or figures?
Only under the usage rights stated with each asset. Where no rights are stated, ask the media address before use. Third-party material inside a figure keeps its own licence.
Who can speak on behalf of GCRI?
Only people the issuing organization authorizes for a given statement. Participation in a programme or a working group does not authorize anyone to speak for GCRI.
How do I report an error in coverage that cites GCRI?
Write to integrity@therisk.global with the article and the passage. GCRI can correct its own material and can explain its published evidence; it does not edit third-party coverage.
Does GCRI give interviews on events in the news?
GCRI can explain its published evidence and methods where they are relevant to a story. It does not comment on matters outside its work, and it does not speak for governments, operators or the other pillar institutions.
