Role Description

The Manager of Community Engagement and Outreach at GCRI is a pivotal role dedicated to fostering and strengthening the organization’s relationships within the community and beyond. This role is instrumental in amplifying GCRI’s mission, ensuring that our initiatives resonate with diverse audiences, and facilitating collaborative endeavors. The manager will serve as GCRI’s ambassador, bridging the gap between the organization and the community, ensuring mutual understanding, collaboration, and growth.

Responsibilities

  1. Community Engagement:
    • Develop and implement strategies to engage with various community groups, stakeholders, and partners.
    • Organize and facilitate community meetings, forums, and events to promote GCRI’s initiatives and gather feedback.
    • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure community insights are integrated into GCRI’s broader strategies.
  2. Outreach Programs:
    • Design and execute outreach campaigns to raise awareness about GCRI’s mission, projects, and opportunities.
    • Partner with educational institutions, local organizations, and other relevant entities to promote GCRI’s initiatives.
  3. Stakeholder Relations:
    • Build and maintain relationships with key community leaders, organizations, and stakeholders.
    • Address any concerns or issues that arise, ensuring that GCRI’s reputation and relationships remain positive and constructive.
  4. Event Management:
    • Plan, coordinate, and execute community events, workshops, and seminars, ensuring they align with GCRI’s objectives and resonate with the target audience.
    • Collaborate with the media and PR teams to ensure effective coverage and promotion of community events.
  5. Feedback and Reporting:
    • Gather feedback from community interactions and provide insights to the GCRI leadership team.
    • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of community engagement and outreach initiatives, recommending improvements as necessary.
  6. Continuous Learning:
    • Stay updated on community engagement best practices, trends, and tools.
    • Attend relevant workshops, seminars, and conferences to enhance community engagement skills and knowledge.

Qualifications

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Community Relations, Public Relations, Communications, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in community engagement, outreach, or a related role, preferably within a nonprofit or research-oriented organization.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities, with the skill to engage diverse audiences effectively.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong ability to plan, coordinate, and execute multiple events and campaigns simultaneously.
  • Interpersonal Skills: A natural ability to build and maintain relationships, with a genuine passion for community engagement.
  • Analytical Abilities: Proficiency in analyzing the effectiveness of engagement strategies and deriving actionable insights.
  • Cultural Sensitivity: A deep understanding and respect for diverse cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives.

Base Compensation: This position is primarily on a volunteer basis, underscoring the dedication and enthusiasm for GCRI’s overarching mission and goals.
