Role Description

The Manager of Media and Marketing at GCRI is entrusted with the pivotal role of shaping and amplifying the organization’s voice in the global arena. This position is responsible for crafting compelling narratives, driving brand awareness, and ensuring that GCRI’s mission and achievements resonate with its target audience. By leveraging both traditional and digital media platforms, the manager will play a crucial role in enhancing GCRI’s visibility, engagement, and impact.

Responsibilities

  1. Brand Strategy:
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive media and marketing strategy that aligns with GCRI’s mission and objectives.
    • Ensure brand consistency across all communication channels and touchpoints.
  2. Content Creation:
    • Oversee the creation of engaging content, including articles, press releases, videos, and infographics, tailored for various platforms and audiences.
    • Collaborate with internal teams to source and highlight impactful stories and achievements.
  3. Digital Marketing:
    • Manage GCRI’s online presence, including the website, social media platforms, and email campaigns.
    • Utilize analytics tools to monitor, evaluate, and optimize digital marketing campaigns.
  4. Media Relations:
    • Build and nurture relationships with journalists, influencers, and media outlets to secure positive coverage for GCRI.
    • Coordinate media inquiries, interviews, and press events.
  5. Event Promotion:
    • Collaborate with the events team to promote GCRI’s workshops, seminars, and conferences.
    • Develop marketing materials, such as brochures, banners, and digital ads, to support event promotion.
  6. Market Research:
    • Stay updated on industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging media and marketing technologies.
    • Gather insights to refine marketing strategies and identify new opportunities.
  7. Team Leadership:
    • Lead and mentor the media and marketing team, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
    • Manage the department’s budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources.

Qualifications

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Media Studies, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant certification in digital marketing or media relations is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in media and marketing, with a proven track record of successful campaigns, preferably within a nonprofit or research-oriented organization.
  • Technical Proficiency: Expertise in digital marketing tools, SEO, SEM, and social media platforms. Familiarity with content management systems and analytics tools.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities, with the skill to craft compelling narratives and engage diverse audiences.
  • Creativity: Ability to conceptualize and execute innovative marketing campaigns that resonate with GCRI’s mission.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to align media and marketing strategies with organizational objectives and foresee potential challenges and opportunities.
