01In brief

The short answer.

Energy Nexus programmes organize its work on energy, critical infrastructure, and climate and hazards at three levels: global priorities, regional applications and country work. Each programme shows its recorded status, from exploring and forming to active, paused or archived, and a plan is never presented as an activity. Countries take part through their national programmes and the Consortium Secretariat.

02Canvas

Scoping to review.

03Geography

Energy demand and corridors in Central Asia.

Where demand concentrates in cities and the rail, road and port corridors that move fuel and equipment, shown for Central Asia as an example geography for this subject.

04Levels

Three levels of work.

05Three levels

How energy work is organised globally, regionally and nationally.

Energy security is shaped by world fuel markets, regional grids and interconnectors, and national policies on adequacy, reserves and transition. Work follows the same split.

  • Global: fuel market security, technology outlooks and shared methods.
  • Regional: interconnected grids, pipelines and regional power pools.
  • National: adequacy standards, strategic reserves and transition plans.
06Status

Every programme shows where it stands.

A programme is shown as exploring, forming, constituted, active, paused or archived, according to its record. A plan is never presented as an activity.

07Key terms

Terms used on this page.

Each term as this page uses it. Where a standard-setting body defines the term, the wording follows that body.

TermDefinition
ProgrammeA group of related projects and activities managed together to obtain benefits that managing them separately would not, in the sense the Project Management Institute's programme standard uses.
Programme statusThe recorded state of a programme on Nexus pages: exploring, forming, constituted, active, paused or archived. A plan is never presented as an activity.
Country ownershipThe principle that a country leads its own development policies and strategies and coordinates the actions that support them, set out in the Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness.
Energy securityThe uninterrupted availability of energy sources at an affordable price, in the IEA's definition, with long-term and short-term dimensions.

How does a country take part?
Through its national programme. Country enquiries go to the Consortium Secretariat at contact@therisk.global or a regional desk.

The current service level is R0: information and enquiries. An enquiry receives a reference and names the next step; applications, payments, compute allocations and registrations open only when their team, terms and review capacity exist.
