Corrections and concerns

Anyone can tell The Global Centre for Risk and Innovation (GCRI) that something is wrong: a factual error, a flawed method, a misleading claim or a concern about conduct. Corrections are part of the work, not a failure of it. This page sets out the published correction process, who reviews what and the routes for each kind of concern. No route requires membership, an account or payment, and none promises a response time; the acknowledgement gives a reference and names the next step. This page is part of trust and accountability.

01In brief

The short answer.

Corrections and concerns is GCRI's published process for anyone to report a factual error, a flawed method, a misleading claim or a concern about conduct. Each report moves from acknowledgement to review to a recorded version, through six routes that need no membership, account or payment, and corrections are never silent edits.

Report to outcome.

04The process

From report to recorded version.

Each step is recorded, so that readers can see what changed and why.

  1. 01

    Report

Write to integrity@therisk.global naming the page or publication, the passage and your evidence.

  2. 02

    Acknowledge

You receive a reference and the name of the next step.

  3. 03

    Review

The responsible editor or source owner reviews the evidence. A complaint about a decision is reviewed by someone not responsible for it.

  4. 04

    Decide and record

An accepted correction creates a new recorded version with its history. A rejected request receives a reasoned disposition.

05Routes

06Key terms

Terms used on this page.

Each term as this page uses it. Where a standard-setting body defines the term, the wording follows that body.

TermDefinition
CorrectionA published notice that amends an error in a work whose main findings stand.
Expression of concernA notice that alerts readers to serious doubts about a work while they are investigated.
Silent editA change to a published record made without a new version, notice or date.
RetractionThe formal withdrawal of a published work whose findings are unreliable, with a notice that stays visible.
07Where corrections appear

Visible histories, never silent edits.

Corrections to publications are listed under corrections and updates. Report-specific corrections are kept at Nexus Reports corrections and supersession. Safeguarding matters follow safeguarding and complaints.

Nexus is not an emergency service. In immediate danger, contact your local emergency services. The Global Risks Forum's route is at GRF corrections and concerns.

08Questions

Questions and answers.

Do I need to be a member to request a correction?
No. Corrections, concerns and complaints about public information require no membership, account or payment.
Will my name be published with a correction?
Not without your agreement. The correction record describes what changed and why; it does not need to name who reported it.
What if I disagree with the outcome?
You can ask for the decision to be reviewed. The review is carried out by someone not responsible for the original decision, and the outcome is recorded.
Can I correct material on GRF or GRA sites here?
Each institution corrects its own material. GRF and GRA publish their own routes, for example GRF corrections and concerns, and the Secretariat can direct you if you are unsure.
How long does a correction stay visible?
Permanently. The corrected version carries its history, and earlier versions remain accessible so that anyone who cited them can see what changed.

Start with an enquiry.

The current service level is R0: information and enquiries. An enquiry receives a reference and names the next step; applications, payments, compute allocations and registrations open only when their team, terms and review capacity exist.
