Everything The Global Centre for Risk and Innovation (GCRI) publishes is reviewed on method, labelled for what kind of evidence it is, open to criticism and corrected in the open. This page sets out the editorial standards behind GCRI pages, papers and reports: how review works, how methods are disclosed, how criticism is handled and how corrections are made. Institutional influence cannot decide a scientific conclusion. This page is part of trust and accountability.
GCRI · Institution · service level R0
Scientific and editorial integrity at GCRI means that everything published is reviewed on method, labelled for the kind of evidence it is, open to criticism and corrected in the open. The standards apply equally to a web page, a technical paper and a flagship report, and institutional influence cannot decide a scientific conclusion.
Fig.How a reported error is reviewed and corrected. Design, not a record.
Where people live and how far each division sits from a large city's services, shown for Kenya as an example geography for this subject.
The standards apply equally to a web page, a technical paper and a flagship report.
Qualified, conflict-managed reviewers and the publisher accept work on its method, not on who funded or hosted it.
Each finding links to its sources, methods and review, with its uncertainty stated.
Dissent and adverse findings are preserved, and a rejected recommendation receives a reasoned disposition.
Officially reported names a source type, not an endorsement. Missing data is shown as missing, never as zero.
Present tense only for what operates now; planned services are described as designed, as recorded in the claims and readiness register.
No partners, members, offices, counts, fees or results without a record.
No rankings of institutions, no prestige lists and no promotional language.
Not publicity deadlines. A planned report is never shown as released.
Each term as this page uses it. Where a standard-setting body defines the term, the wording follows that body.
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Editorial independence | The condition in which editors decide what is published on the validity and relevance of the work, free from interference by owners, funders or sponsors, as ICMJE and COPE guidance describe it. |
| Evidence label | A tag on an assertion naming the kind of evidence behind it, such as observed, officially reported or modelled. |
| Peer review | Evaluation of a work by independent experts in the field before publication. |

The current service level is R0: information and enquiries. An enquiry receives a reference and names the next step; applications, payments, compute allocations and registrations open only when their team, terms and review capacity exist.
