Position Overview

As a Communications and Public Relations Volunteer at GCRI, you will be stepping into a role of immense significance. Key Responsibilities

  1. Strategic Communication:
    • Content Creation: Draft press releases, articles, and other communication materials that align with GCRI’s mission and vision.
    • Media Engagement: Build and nurture relationships with media houses, journalists, and influencers to amplify GCRI’s voice.
  2. Public Relations:
    • Event Promotion: Assist in promoting GCRI events, seminars, and workshops to ensure maximum visibility and participation.
    • Stakeholder Communication: Engage with key stakeholders, including partners, donors, and the academic community, ensuring consistent and positive communication.
  3. Digital Presence:
    • Social Media Management: Contribute to GCRI’s social media strategy, creating engaging content and monitoring online engagement.
    • Website Content: Assist in updating and refining content on GCRI’s official website, ensuring it remains current and impactful.
  4. Branding & Image Management:
    • Brand Consistency: Ensure all communication materials adhere to GCRI’s branding guidelines.
    • Reputation Management: Monitor media and online mentions, addressing any potential PR challenges proactively.
  5. Continuous Learning & Development:
    • Industry Trends: Stay abreast of the latest in communication strategies, tools, and global PR trends.
    • Professional Growth: Participate in workshops, seminars, and conferences to enhance your PR and communication acumen.

Qualifications

  • Educational Background: Enrollment in or completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field. Preference for 3rd and 4th-year students with a strong academic focus.
  • Relevant Experience: Previous experience in PR, communications, or media relations is a plus. Active participation in PR-centric seminars or conferences is advantageous.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication capabilities.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with PR tools, social media platforms, and content management systems.
  • Analytical Prowess: Ability to analyze media trends and derive actionable insights.
  • Creativity: Innovative thinking with the ability to craft compelling narratives.
