01In brief

The short answer.

Nexus Foundry research is the evidence work behind the platform: questions such as project workstations and twenty technical systems, answered with high-performance, cloud and edge computing as well as data engineering, interoperability and stewardship and reviewed before publication. Every result carries an evidence label, from observed to modelled or expert judgement, and missing data is shown as missing, never filled silently.

Supporting methods: institutional oversight of researchCapacity and oversight only: proposals go to an institutional committee, reviewed under national rules, approved with conditions, supported by training, audited, and incidents are reported to the national body. Design of the process, not a record of a run.

03Geography

Digital demand and connectivity in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

Urban demand centres and the hubs that anchor digital and data infrastructure, shown for the United Kingdom and Ireland as an example geography for this subject.

05Open questions

What Foundry research cannot yet answer well enough for decisions.

Foundry research concerns the engineering of trustworthy analytical infrastructure: how builds stay reproducible, how agents stay within scope and how access stays lawful across institutions.

  • How can project workstations give analysts power without bypassing review? See project workstations.
  • What assurance should an agent carry before it may act on Foundry data? See agents and automation.
  • How should modelling and simulation runs be recorded so that they can be rerun years later? See modelling and simulation.
  • How should compute be placed across cloud and edge under residency rules? See compute and edge.
06Evidence

Every result keeps its label.

Results are labelled as observed, officially reported, estimated, modelled, forecast, scenario or expert judgement. Missing data is shown as missing, never filled silently.

Terms used on this page.

Each term as this page uses it. Where a standard-setting body defines the term, the wording follows that body.

TermDefinition
Research integrityConduct of research in line with principles of reliability, honesty, respect and accountability, as the European Code of Conduct for Research Integrity sets them out.
Evidence labelA tag on an assertion naming the kind of evidence behind it, such as observed, officially reported or modelled.
ReproducibilityObtaining consistent results using the same data and analysis code as the original study.
Interface contractA versioned specification of the requests and responses a system accepts, such as an OpenAPI or Protocol Buffers definition.

09Questions

Questions and answers.

Can I propose a research question?
Yes. Write to contact@therisk.global with the question, the context and who would use the answer. A proposal receives a reference; it does not commit the platform to the work.

The current service level is R0: information and enquiries. An enquiry receives a reference and names the next step; applications, payments, compute allocations and registrations open only when their team, terms and review capacity exist.
