Global series

The global series of Nexus Reports, published by The Global Centre for Risk and Innovation (GCRI), examines risks that cross countries, sectors and systems: how failures in one part of the world economy, environment or infrastructure propagate to others. This page lists global, sector and strategic analyses as each edition is released. No edition is shown until it is released. The current service level is R0: information and enquiries.

01In brief

The short answer.

The global series of Nexus Reports examines risks that cross countries, sectors and systems: how failures in one part of the world economy, environment or infrastructure propagate to others. Global, sector and strategic analyses are listed as each edition is released.

02Geography

Systemic exposure in Asia.

Where people and networks concentrate, the exposure through which shocks travel between systems, shown for Asia as an example geography for this subject.

04Method

How a global analysis is built.

  1. 01

    Systems first

Analysis starts from dependencies between systems, not from one universal risk score.

  2. 02

    Sources qualified

Each source is registered with its authority and limits, and each claim carries an evidence label.

  3. 03

    Uncertainty stated

Scenarios are labelled as scenarios, and model results as model results, with their assumptions.

  4. 04

    Reviewed and versioned

Editions pass domain and editorial review under methods and publication process, and corrections create new versions.

05Contributors

Who contributes to the global series.

Field platforms of GCRI contribute evidence on their systems; Water Nexus and Energy Nexus, for example, contribute to the sector series. The Global Risks Forum (GRF) contributes governance analysis, and The Global Risks Alliance (GRA) contributes sector-level financial understanding, published on GRA sector reports. Every contribution follows the same method.

06Key terms

Terms used on this page.

Each term as this page uses it. Where a standard-setting body defines the term, the wording follows that body.

TermDefinition
Systemic riskRisk arising from the interactions and dependencies within and between systems, where a shock can propagate and threaten the functioning of the whole.
Cascading riskRisk that a failure in one system or component triggers failures in others that depend on it.
InterconnectednessThe links among institutions through exposures, holdings and services that let stress pass between them.
07Current state

No global edition is listed yet.

Editions appear here as each is released, with its methods page, source and rights register, reusable figures, permitted data, review and funding disclosures and correction history. Each edition carries a permanent identifier and a version, so later corrections can be traced to the version they replace.

A global analysis is not a ranking of countries or institutions, and it uses no third-party risk index names; Nexus indicators use GRIx-native names and units.

08Questions

Questions and answers.

How often is the global series published?
Each series sets its own cadence in its method. No publication date is promised until an edition is scheduled for release.
Can I propose a topic for the global series?
Yes. Write to research@therisk.global. The acknowledgement gives a reference and names the next step.
Can I reuse figures from a global edition?
Yes, under each figure's stated licence, with its source and metadata kept intact.
Does the global series replace national reports?
No. Global editions draw on national and sector evidence and point back to it; they do not override what a national edition found.
Where are related topics discussed?
See the global systems series topic and the sectoral series topic.
