STEM foundation of Advanced Industry and Robotics

The science, technology, engineering and mathematics Advanced Industry and Robotics rests on. Each method has a canonical page in the STEM Commons, hosted by GCRI, and a page here on how it is applied in this field.

STEM foundation of Advanced Industry and Robotics: the risk management process, scope to reviewScope, context and criteria set the frame; risks are identified, analysed and evaluated against criteria; treatment follows; monitoring and review and communication run across every step, and the process is recorded and reported. Design of the process, not a record of a run.

04Method mix

Why industrial needs this combination of methods.

Industrial risk combines process safety for major hazards, robotics and systems engineering for automation, materials chemistry for substances, sensing for monitoring, optimisation for production and environmental engineering for emissions. The test of the mix is whether it explains past accidents, which is where the platform starts each method review.

Industrial work combines process safety, robotics, systems engineering and materials chemistry with sensing, optimisation, energy technology and environmental engineering.

05Why it matters

Grounding makes claims checkable.

When a finding names the methods it depends on, a reader can see its assumptions and limits, and an expert in that method can challenge it.

The current service level is R0: information and enquiries. An enquiry receives a reference and names the next step; applications, payments, compute allocations and registrations open only when their team, terms and review capacity exist.
