The Global Centre for Risk and Innovation (GCRI)
The research behind Critical Infrastructure: the questions it asks, the methods it uses and how evidence is reviewed before it is published.
GCRI · In development · service level R0
Critical Infrastructure research is the evidence work behind the platform: questions such as electricity and lifelines and water and wastewater assets, answered with reliability and resilience engineering as well as systems engineering and reviewed before publication. Every result carries an evidence label, from observed to modelled or expert judgement, and missing data is shown as missing, never filled silently.

For research and evidence, in GCRI's spatial-intelligence reading, the map opens on true-colour imagery, night lights and land cover with true colour from NASA GIBS, framed on Western Europe; 3 further NASA layers wait in the list.
The interactive map needs JavaScript; the layer list and sources are below.

Dependency of services on power.
Facilities, utility networks and service areas.
Communications, data links and shared dependencies.
Ports, roads, rail and supply routes.
Essential facility dependencies.
Buildings, heat and climate exposures.
Infrastructure research here is about interdependency: how failure in one network propagates to others and how restoration in one waits on another.
Results are labelled as observed, officially reported, estimated, modelled, forecast, scenario or expert judgement. Missing data is shown as missing, never filled silently.
Each term as this page uses it. Where a standard-setting body defines the term, the wording follows that body.
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Research integrity | Conduct of research in line with principles of reliability, honesty, respect and accountability, as the European Code of Conduct for Research Integrity sets them out. |
| Evidence label | A tag on an assertion naming the kind of evidence behind it, such as observed, officially reported or modelled. |
| Reproducibility | Obtaining consistent results using the same data and analysis code as the original study. |
| Non-revenue water | Water that a utility produces but does not bill, made up of physical losses from leaks, commercial losses from metering errors and theft, and unbilled authorised use. |

The current service level is R0: information and enquiries. An enquiry receives a reference and names the next step; applications, payments, compute allocations and registrations open only when their team, terms and review capacity exist.
