Bangladesh Risks Forum 2025
The Global Risks Forum – National Engagement Series: Bangladesh is a hybrid-format national initiative convened by NWG Bangladesh, a nonpartisan, independent network of experts, youth leaders, community organizations, and diaspora stakeholders. Functioning autonomously from the Government of Bangladesh and any political affiliation, NWG Bangladesh provides a neutral space for dialogue and innovation on disaster risk reduction (DRR), disaster risk finance (DRF), and disaster risk intelligence (DRI).
This event is part of the broader mission of the Global Risks Alliance (GRA) and Global Risks Forum (GRF)—a global initiative advancing collective intelligence, technology-enabled resilience, and anticipatory governance. The forum connects actors across the quintuple helix—academia, civil society, government (as stakeholders), private sector, and international partners—to co-develop solutions grounded in local realities and global frameworks.
Strategic Purpose
The Bangladesh series is designed to:
- Confront urgent and systemic risks such as climate-induced displacement, cyclones, river erosion, and urban flooding;
- Strengthen anticipatory governance through real-time risk monitoring, adaptive policymaking, and innovation labs;
- Advance disaster risk finance tools, social protection systems, and inclusive planning mechanisms;
- Uplift grassroots leadership, youth mobilization, and diaspora knowledge exchange in building sustainable resilience.
Through working groups, scenario simulations, and co-creation sessions, the forum aims to produce tangible outputs such as localized adaptation strategies, risk-informed financing mechanisms, and technology-integrated policy frameworks.
Technical Foundation: Nexus Ecosystem Integration
The forum is enabled by the Nexus Ecosystem, an integrated infrastructure utilizing quantum computing, AI/ML, blockchain, and geospatial intelligence to support data-driven, context-sensitive risk governance. Participants engage with:
- AI-enhanced simulation models for flood forecasting, coastal retreat scenarios, and population vulnerability;
- Geospatial and Earth observation platforms for tracking environmental degradation and land use shifts;
- Blockchain-based DRF tools, including decentralized insurance and conditional cash transfer systems;
- Digital twins and participatory urban planning platforms for resilient infrastructure design;
- IoT- and 5G-enabled early warning systems tailored to cyclone-prone and low-lying regions;
- Standardized data governance protocols via Nexus Protocol for ethical, transparent, and interoperable decision-making.
These technical components support scalable, inclusive, and future-ready responses to Bangladesh’s multi-hazard risk profile.
Governance and Participation
NWG Bangladesh operates with full autonomy, aligned with the principles of GRA and GRF. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or accountable to any political party or governmental institution, ensuring that all dialogues and outputs are rooted in scientific integrity, inclusive ethics, and global cooperation.
Participation is open to academics, policy practitioners, urban planners, civil society leaders, technologists, youth organizers, and development partners committed to building Bangladesh’s resilience through co-governance and open innovation.
Join the Movement
We invite researchers, financial experts, community leaders, diaspora professionals, humanitarian actors, and technology developers to join the Global Risks Forum – Bangladesh Series as speakers, facilitators, and collaborators. This platform offers a unique opportunity to co-create inclusive governance systems, anticipatory finance models, and data-driven policies that meet Bangladesh’s current and future resilience needs—while contributing to a global ecosystem of risk governance and innovation.
