Fiji Risks Forum 2025
The Global Risks Forum – National Engagement Series: Fiji is a nationally anchored, hybrid-format initiative led by NWG Fiji, an independent coalition of experts, practitioners, and community leaders. Operating autonomously from the Government of Fiji and without any political affiliation, NWG Fiji provides a nonpartisan platform for collaborative dialogue and innovation across disaster risk reduction (DRR), disaster risk finance (DRF), and disaster risk intelligence (DRI).
This initiative contributes to the mission of the Global Risks Alliance (GRA) and Global Risks Forum (GRF)—a global ecosystem focused on foresight, resilience, and systems innovation. It brings together diverse actors from the quintuple helix—academia, civil society, private sector, international organizations, and public institutions (as stakeholders, not organizers)—to co-create solutions tailored to Fiji’s vulnerabilities as a small island developing state (SIDS).
Strategic Purpose
The Fiji series is designed to:
- Promote independent, evidence-informed discourse on climate, oceanic, and socio-economic risks;
- Strengthen the integration of frontier technologies in early warning systems, blue economy resilience, and disaster preparedness;
- Enhance institutional capacity for anticipatory governance and sustainable finance in the face of escalating climate-related hazards;
- Amplify the voices of Indigenous communities, women, youth, and diaspora networks in the co-development of culturally grounded, scalable solutions.
Sessions are designed to generate actionable outcomes—advancing simulation-based policy frameworks, adaptive financing tools, and resilient governance structures aligned with Fiji’s regional and global sustainability commitments.
Technical Foundation: Nexus Ecosystem Integration
The forum is enabled by the Nexus Ecosystem, a modular digital infrastructure that combines quantum, AI, and blockchain technologies to support real-time, collaborative risk governance. NWG Fiji leverages this infrastructure through:
- AI-driven predictive analytics and hazard modeling for cyclones, sea-level rise, and ocean acidification
- Geospatial and satellite intelligence systems for coastal monitoring and ecosystem management
- Quantum cloud orchestration for service integration, simulation, and infrastructure automation
- IoT-enhanced early warning networks for real-time disaster alerts and response coordination
- Smart contract systems for anticipatory action and equitable emergency resource delivery
- Blockchain-based DRF tools, including climate-linked parametric insurance and blue finance tokens
- Scenario simulation platforms for participatory decision-making and stakeholder training
- Risk indexing and benchmarking frameworks for transparent monitoring and strategic adaptation planning
These tools empower Fijian stakeholders to navigate complex, overlapping risks in real time—enhancing national capacity and regional leadership on climate and disaster resilience.
Governance and Participation
NWG Fiji designs and implements all activities independently, in full alignment with the principles and frameworks of the GRA and GRF. The forum maintains no political or governmental affiliation, ensuring its credibility is rooted in scientific excellence, ethical transparency, and global solidarity.
Participation is open to scholars, policy professionals, Indigenous leaders, youth groups, technologists, diaspora members, and international allies dedicated to shaping inclusive and resilient futures for Fiji.
Join the Movement
We invite local, regional, and global partners to participate in the Global Risks Forum – Fiji Series as contributors, collaborators, and changemakers. Together, we can co-design anticipatory governance systems, sustainable finance solutions, and resilience strategies that reflect Fiji’s unique challenges and strengths—while advancing collective action across the Pacific and beyond.
