Global Risks Forum 2025

How often does the GRF Leaders Council meet, and what is the expected level of participation?

The GRF Leaders Council operates on a hybrid, year-round engagement model that allows members from all regions to participate meaningfully regardless of time zone or travel constraints. Formal Council activities are structured around:

  • Quarterly Council Sessions: Held virtually via Nexus Platforms to deliberate on agenda priorities, corridor programs, strategic partnerships, and governance matters.
  • Annual GRF Week: A hybrid in-person and online convening hosted each year in Geneva (with rotating satellite engagements in New York, Vienna, Nairobi, and other GCRI-aligned cities), where Council members vote on institutional directions, new initiatives, and Board nominations.
  • Regional Dialogues: Organized through the Regional Stewardship Boards (RSBs), these are hosted semi-annually to gather context-specific feedback and align regional foresight with GRF’s global mandate.
  • Standing Committees and Ad Hoc Consultations: Members may choose to join thematic working groups (e.g., climate, finance, health) or serve on selection and advisory committees as needed.

Participation is non-executive and voluntary—Council members are not required to take on operational responsibilities but are expected to contribute meaningfully to decision-making processes, governance deliberations, and foresight consultations. As part of a member-led platform, maintaining “good standing” includes consistent engagement in Council sessions, constructive contribution to deliberations, and upholding the principles of transparency, independence, and global public purpose as defined by GCRI’s charter and bylaws.
