Global Risks Forum 2025

What does it mean to be in “good standing” as a Leaders Council member?

Being in good standing as a member of the Global Risks Forum (GRF) Leaders Council signifies that you are actively and responsibly fulfilling your role within a member-governed, non-executive, and internationally aligned governance body. As GRF is established under the legal and institutional architecture of the Global Centre for Risk and Innovation (GCRI)—a UN-recognized, independent civil society organization—maintaining good standing ensures that each Council member contributes meaningfully to the platform’s mission, integrity, and global operations.

To be in good standing, a Council member must:

  1. Maintain an active membership status through timely payment of annual membership dues, which support the operational independence and fiduciary integrity of GRF;
  2. Participate in Council deliberations and contribute to the strategic direction of the Forum through quarterly online sessions, regional dialogues, and the annual General Assembly;
  3. Uphold the principles of public purpose, neutrality, and transparency, as set forth in GCRI’s bylaws and Nexus Governance Charter;
  4. Represent their designated tier and geography responsibly—whether serving a national (Affiliate), regional (Fellow), or global (Patron) seat within the GRF architecture;
  5. Support the development of policy corridors, strategic partnerships, and regional initiatives, particularly within the framework of their assigned National Working Group (NWG) or Regional Stewardship Board (RSB);
  6. Engage with Nexus Platforms to review, propose, and vote on agenda items, governance questions, and foresight initiatives;
  7. Comply with GRF’s ethics and conflict-of-interest protocols, including clause-based accountability standards, data stewardship practices, and institutional transparency procedures;
  8. Participate in onboarding and annual re-certification to confirm alignment with the GRF mission and ongoing eligibility for leadership roles or committee nominations;
  9. Contribute to collaborative outputs such as policy briefs, scenario reviews, or foresight consultations, depending on area of expertise and interest;
  10. Respect the non-executive nature of the role, ensuring advisory and governance participation without engagement in daily operations or institutional management.

The membership due is not a fee for access or influence—it is a constitutional requirement that affirms your active commitment to a self-governing multilateral platform. It enables GRF to remain financially independent from government or corporate capture, and ensures that its programs, governance protocols, and global engagements are rooted in a transparent, member-funded structure. Dues support:

  • Nexus Platforms and governance tools;
  • Legal and compliance infrastructure;
  • Public reporting and civic engagement;
  • Risk corridor planning and early warning initiatives;
  • Member services, documentation, and training.

In essence, good standing reflects a shared responsibility for co-governing one of the world’s first foresight-based, clause-certified, and member-led global platforms for risk, resilience, and regenerative governance.
