Zambia Risks Forum 2025
The Global Risks Forum – National Engagement Series: Zambia is an annual, hybrid-format initiative led by NWG Zambia, an independent coalition of national and international experts across climate science, public policy, Indigenous knowledge, and innovation systems. Free from any government affiliation or political oversight, NWG Zambia provides a neutral, action-oriented platform for addressing systemic risks through disaster risk reduction (DRR), disaster risk finance (DRF), and disaster risk intelligence (DRI).
This series is part of the global effort led by the Global Risks Alliance (GRA) and the Global Risks Forum (GRF) to promote foresight-driven collaboration, ethical innovation, and community-centered resilience. The platform brings together stakeholders from the quintuple helix—academia, civil society, private sector, international partners, and government institutions (participating as stakeholders, not organizers).
Strategic Purpose
The Zambia edition is designed to:
- Address interconnected risks related to climate variability, energy transition, food insecurity, and urbanization;
- Strengthen anticipatory governance and multi-hazard preparedness in rural and peri-urban areas;
- Promote digital public infrastructure, risk-sensitive budgeting, and community-led development finance;
- Elevate Indigenous and youth knowledge systems as key drivers of resilience and sustainability.
Each session focuses on co-developing policy tools, financing mechanisms, and digital governance frameworks grounded in equity, participation, and innovation.
Technical Foundation: Nexus Ecosystem Integration
The forum is powered by the Nexus Ecosystem, an AI- and quantum-enabled infrastructure designed to support real-time intelligence, simulation-based governance, and systems-level innovation. Key components include:
- AI/ML-driven climate and agricultural risk modelling for drought forecasting, crop failure prevention, and food system planning
- Geospatial intelligence and Earth Observation platforms for monitoring land degradation, deforestation, and water scarcity
- Blockchain-based finance tools for community savings groups, climate-linked insurance, and disaster response funds
- IoT-enabled monitoring systems for floods, heatwaves, and infectious disease outbreaks in vulnerable regions
- Simulation engines and digital twin environments for rural development planning and decentralized service delivery
- Data governance standards that ensure transparency, accessibility, and ethical use of local and national data
These technologies support locally rooted, globally connected efforts to design sustainable and inclusive risk governance systems for Zambia.
Governance and Participation
All NWG Zambia activities are independently governed and fully aligned with the ethical and procedural standards of GRA and GRF. The platform is not affiliated with or directed by any state authority or political body, ensuring neutrality, transparency, and trust.
Participation is open to researchers, youth leaders, women’s networks, climate activists, finance innovators, Indigenous elders, and public institutions committed to advancing Zambia’s resilience agenda through collaborative innovation.
Join the Movement
We invite national and international stakeholders to participate in the Global Risks Forum – Zambia Series. Help co-create future-ready governance systems, anticipatory finance tools, and adaptive technologies that strengthen resilience across Zambia’s communities and ecosystems—while contributing to a global network of shared learning and action.
