Australia Risks Forum 2025
The Global Risks Forum – National Engagement Series: Australia is a flagship, hybrid-format event led by NWG Australia, an autonomous platform of academic experts, Indigenous knowledge holders, youth leaders, and multi-sectoral stakeholders. Operated independently from the Government of Australia and any political affiliations, NWG Australia provides a nonpartisan, evidence-based environment for dialogue and innovation in disaster risk reduction (DRR), disaster risk finance (DRF), and disaster risk intelligence (DRI).
This national edition contributes to the wider mission of the Global Risks Alliance (GRA) and the Global Risks Forum (GRF)—a globally coordinated network advancing systemic foresight, anticipatory action, and innovation ecosystems for resilience. The forum engages participants across the quintuple helix—government (as stakeholder), academia, private sector, civil society, and global partners—to collaboratively address Australia’s complex risk landscape and global responsibilities.
Strategic Purpose
The Australia series seeks to:
- Address systemic risks such as climate change, bushfires, biodiversity loss, and urban vulnerability through integrated approaches;
- Embed real-time risk intelligence and technological innovation into emergency response and recovery systems;
- Advance financial mechanisms that support long-term climate adaptation, resilience bonds, and insurance reform;
- Leverage First Nations knowledge systems and participatory governance models for inclusive and just transitions.
Each session emphasizes applied outcomes—co-creating simulation-based policies, anticipatory governance frameworks, smart finance tools, and scenario-planning models tailored to Australia’s ecological, social, and economic realities.
Technical Foundation: Nexus Ecosystem Integration
The forum is powered by the Nexus Ecosystem, an AI- and simulation-based infrastructure supporting real-time governance and multi-risk decision-making. Its integrated architecture enables stakeholders to collaborate through:
- High-performance computing and quantum-AI modeling for wildfire, flood, and climate risk forecasting;
- Geospatial and environmental intelligence systems for dynamic risk visualization and community monitoring;
- Blockchain-enabled financial tools including catastrophe bonds and decentralized risk pooling;
- Digital twin simulations and policy sandbox environments for adaptive decision-making;
- Multi-hazard early warning networks combining IoT, satellite, and Indigenous land observation;
- Sustainable finance and impact investing portals linked to SDGs and national resilience goals;
- Data interoperability and ethical governance frameworks standardized via Nexus Protocol.
These tools empower participants to build risk-informed systems that are locally grounded, technologically advanced, and globally scalable.
Governance and Participation
NWG Australia operates with full independence in its structure, design, and execution, guided by the frameworks of the GRA and GRF. It is not affiliated with or accountable to any government agency or political organization, ensuring the integrity, transparency, and inclusivity of all engagements.
Participation is open to professionals, research institutions, Indigenous communities, youth, entrepreneurs, and public sector innovators committed to collaborative, nonpartisan solutions. The forum fosters dialogue across disciplines, geographies, and generations to reshape Australia’s resilience pathways.
Join the Movement
We invite risk experts, policy architects, Indigenous leaders, private sector actors, technologists, and civil society organizations to join the Global Risks Forum – Australia Series as speakers, contributors, and partners. This initiative is a unique opportunity to shape bold, forward-looking approaches to risk governance, anticipatory finance, and collective intelligence—anchored in Australia’s unique challenges and leadership potential in global resilience.
