Kenya Risks Forum 2025
The Global Risks Forum – National Engagement Series: Kenya is a dynamic, hybrid-format initiative led by NWG Kenya, an independent coalition of researchers, civic actors, technologists, youth leaders, and resilience professionals. Functioning independently from the Government of Kenya and all political affiliations, NWG Kenya offers a trusted, nonpartisan platform focused on disaster risk reduction (DRR), disaster risk finance (DRF), and disaster risk intelligence (DRI).
As part of the global mandate of the Global Risks Alliance (GRA) and Global Risks Forum (GRF), the Kenya edition connects national priorities with global systems for inclusive innovation, digital transformation, and sustainability. It facilitates deep engagement across the quintuple helix—academia, civil society, private sector, public institutions (as stakeholders), and international organizations.
Strategic Purpose
The Kenya series is designed to:
- Foster dialogue and systems collaboration on issues such as climate change, drought, floods, urban vulnerability, and food insecurity;
- Advance anticipatory governance and foresight tools to support adaptive policymaking and long-term resilience planning;
- Promote frontier solutions in disaster risk finance, including mobile-enabled early action, community insurance schemes, and parametric financing;
- Engage local leaders, Indigenous knowledge systems, youth movements, and diaspora networks in designing place-based responses.
Each session emphasizes scenario-based planning, simulation tools, and community-led innovation to drive integrated, locally relevant, and future-ready solutions.
Technical Foundation: Nexus Ecosystem Integration
Powered by the Nexus Ecosystem, the forum deploys a quantum-cloud and AI-enhanced infrastructure designed to support real-time decision-making and sustainable development. NWG Kenya activates the following capabilities:
- AI/ML-based early warning and climate adaptation tools for drought prediction, agricultural resilience, and flood modeling
- Geospatial intelligence and remote sensing to map vulnerabilities in informal settlements, arid regions, and critical ecosystems
- Blockchain-driven risk financing systems for digital disbursement, transparency, and decentralized insurance
- IoT-based sensor networks for environmental monitoring and real-time alerts in rural and urban zones
- Co-governance platforms to enable inclusive stakeholder participation and federated data management
- Simulation and policy labs for infrastructure stress testing, crisis scenario exercises, and local government capacity building
-
Resilience indexing and ESG alignment dashboards to benchmark regional preparedness and guide investment priorities
These tools empower Kenyan communities and institutions to navigate uncertainty, reduce risk exposure, and scale transformative resilience strategies.
Governance and Participation
All NWG Kenya activities are independently led and managed, in accordance with the core principles of GRA and GRF. The forum is not affiliated with or accountable to any government or political body, ensuring neutrality, scientific integrity, and open collaboration.
Participation is open to universities, grassroots organizations, financial actors, technology hubs, youth networks, and international partners. The series promotes shared learning, decentralized governance, and systems innovation grounded in Kenya’s ecological diversity and democratic principles.
Join the Movement
We invite civic innovators, policy experts, climate scientists, digital entrepreneurs, and regional partners to engage with the Global Risks Forum – Kenya Series as speakers, contributors, and collaborators. This is a unique opportunity to build climate-smart, risk-informed, and inclusive systems of governance for Kenya—while linking national insight to global risk intelligence and transformation efforts.
