Thailand Risks Forum 2025
The Global Risks Forum – National Engagement Series: Thailand is an annual, hybrid-format initiative organized by NWG Thailand, a fully independent network of national and international experts. Operating without political affiliation or governmental oversight, NWG Thailand facilitates a nonpartisan platform for advancing disaster risk reduction (DRR), disaster risk finance (DRF), and disaster risk intelligence (DRI) through inclusive, evidence-based, and tech-enabled dialogue.
This national forum is part of a globally coordinated initiative led by the Global Risks Alliance (GRA) and the Global Risks Forum (GRF) to build anticipatory, systems-level resilience. It convenes actors across the quintuple helix—including academia, civil society, private sector, international partners, and government (as stakeholders only)—to co-create solutions for complex and emerging risks.
Strategic Purpose
The Thailand edition is designed to:
- Explore integrated approaches to climate risks, public health crises, and urban vulnerabilities across regions such as Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and the Mekong basin;
- Strengthen regional preparedness through participatory policy design and simulation-based scenario planning;
- Advance financial resilience through smart contracts, parametric instruments, and community-based risk pooling;
- Foster cross-cultural, intergenerational dialogue—connecting Indigenous, scientific, and youth knowledge systems.
The forum prioritizes practical collaboration, aiming to develop actionable frameworks, localized innovations, and inclusive governance models grounded in Thailand’s unique socio-ecological landscape.
Technical Foundation: Nexus Ecosystem Integration
The series is powered by the Nexus Ecosystem, a modular digital infrastructure optimized for high-performance analytics, cognitive computing, and real-time governance collaboration. Nexus capabilities tailored for Thailand include:
- AI/ML-based climate adaptation modeling for flooding, heatwaves, and land-use changes
- Remote sensing and geospatial intelligence for disaster mapping, crop monitoring, and water management
- Blockchain-enabled finance tools for early recovery, microinsurance, and donor accountability
- IoT-integrated early warning systems for flash floods, disease outbreaks, and infrastructure failure
- Digital twin simulations for smart city planning, energy resilience, and transportation networks
- Decentralized risk governance platforms for stakeholder coordination and real-time data sharing
- Custom resilience indices and benchmarks aligned with Thailand’s national and ASEAN regional priorities
These tools support multi-stakeholder capacity building, adaptive decision-making, and policy innovation at all governance levels.
Governance and Participation
NWG Thailand is fully autonomous and aligned with the strategic and ethical principles of the GRA and GRF. It is not affiliated with, funded by, or accountable to any political entity or government body, ensuring the scientific neutrality and integrity of all discussions and outputs.
Participation is open to scholars, financial actors, local authorities, civil society organizations, Indigenous networks, and international development partners. The event encourages interdisciplinary learning, south-south cooperation, and place-based systems innovation.
Join the Movement
We invite researchers, policymakers, urban designers, youth advocates, technologists, and community leaders to participate in the Global Risks Forum – Thailand Series as co-creators, speakers, or institutional partners. Join a global alliance of changemakers working to build resilient futures—rooted in local knowledge, powered by technology, and connected through global solidarity.
