Testing in Nexus Universe is how Food Nexus brings work to the annual programme governed by The Global Risks Forum, with its own site at universe.nexus. Its proposed mission themes are food system shock and import dependence as well as cold chain under grid failure. Selected work is tested under controlled conditions, reviewed and published with its limits; a theme is a proposal, not a confirmed exercise.
Plains, deltas and basins, the corridors that carry food to ports, and how far each division sits from one, shown for the Philippines as an example geography for this subject.
Proposed for controlled testing in the annual programme; a theme is not a confirmed exercise.

| Exercise theme | What it tests |
|---|---|
| Food system shock and import dependence | How an import-dependent country's stocks, trade measures and safety nets respond to a world price spike during a domestic harvest shortfall |
| Cold chain under grid failure | Whether perishable supply and vaccine storage survive a multi-day outage in hot weather |
Exercise findings describe the scenario, not the readiness of any named country or company.
Selected work is tested under controlled conditions, reviewed and then published with its limits. Results that pass go to Nexus Reports. The planned stand-down of each edition keeps review, reconciliation and corrections going after the event.
Each term as this page uses it. Where a standard-setting body defines the term, the wording follows that body.
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Mission theme | A subject a platform proposes for controlled testing in the annual Nexus Universe programme; a theme is a proposal until the programme confirms an exercise. |
| Simulation exercise | A practice, training or evaluation activity in which an emergency is described or simulated and participants respond as they would in reality, so that plans and capacities can be tested, as WHO's exercise manual describes. |
| Tabletop exercise | A discussion-based exercise in which participants talk through decisions in response to a scenario. |
| After-action review | A structured discussion after an activity of what was planned, what happened, why, and what to change. |

The current service level is R0: information and enquiries. An enquiry receives a reference and names the next step; applications, payments, compute allocations and registrations open only when their team, terms and review capacity exist.
