Welcome to the National Stakeholders Identification Thread for Nigeria!
This thread identifies and maps key stakeholders across sectors to support climate action, disaster risk reduction (DRR), biodiversity conservation, and sustainable development efforts in Nigeria. We aim to engage relevant actors to mobilize climate finance and strengthen partnerships for the Global Risks Forum 2025 and other global frameworks, including the Santiago Network for Loss and Damage.

How You Can Contribute: Identify Stakeholders Across the Quintuple Helix Framework
1- Academia and Research: Universities, think tanks, and research institutions focusing on sustainability, climate policy, DRR, and biodiversity in Nigeria.
Example: Institutions like University of Lagos (UNILAG), University of Ibadan, and think tanks such as the Nigerian Institute of Social and Economic Research (NISER).

2- Industry and Business: Corporations, startups, and financial institutions involved in renewable energy, green technologies, and climate finance.
Example: Renewable energy companies, green tech startups, financial institutions supporting sustainable investments, and agribusinesses implementing sustainable farming practices.

3- Civil Society and NGOs: Non-profits, advocacy groups, and community organizations working on conservation, disaster risk reduction, and sustainable development.
Example: NGOs like Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF), Friends of the Environment (FOTE), and community-based organizations focusing on water resource management, afforestation, and climate resilience.

4- Government and Public Sector: National, state, and local government agencies involved in climate policy, environmental regulations, and disaster management.
Example: Federal Ministry of Environment, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), and state environmental protection agencies implementing climate adaptation strategies.

5- Natural Environment: Organizations managing ecosystems, protected areas, and promoting biodiversity conservation across Nigeria.
Example: National Parks Service, initiatives focusing on the conservation of the Niger Delta region, and projects to protect endangered species such as gorillas and elephants.
