    Nikolaos Papanikons is as an integral member of our Legacy Leadership team of GCRI, focusing on enhancing our long-term sustainability and impactful initiatives across both land and sea. As a naval architect with a Master's degree from the National Technical University of Athens, and extensive experience in maritime engineering and environmental policy, Mr. Papanikos embodies the expertise and leadership that GCRI values in our quest for a sustainable planet. His impressive career includes the role as a Member of the Supervisory Board at PeerBerry, tackling the challenges brought on by the War in Ukraine. His strategic, ESG, and carbon credits trading consultancy, reflect his dedication to driving sustainable practices within the maritime industry. As a Technical-Compliance Director at Southpoint Maritime and Universe Maritime, Mr. Papanikos has been instrumental in advancing technical and regulatory standards. In his significant 20-year tenure with DNV, Mr. Papanikos has held multiple roles including Director on Board Of Directors and Flag Liaison Officer for the Greek Flag, as well as a Principal Surveyor Lead Auditor. His long-standing involvement with DNV has seen him contribute to critical decisions that continue to shape the maritime sector's future. Additionally, Nikolaos has brought his expertise to the Union of Greek Shipowners | Ένωσις Ελλήνων Εφοπλιστών as a Foreign Affairs Department Specialist, advocating for maritime interests on an international stage. In joining GCRI, Mr. Papanikos brings a systemic and holistic approach to sustainability, resilience, and ESG initiatives. His expertise is not only vital in addressing maritime environmental challenges but also in ensuring that our initiatives on land are equally informed and impactful. His experience in carbon trading, climate policy, and ESG integration is crucial in GCRI's efforts to develop sustainable practices that transcend traditional boundaries. Mr. Papanikos involvement will enhance GCRI's strategies in creating resilient systems and sustainable frameworks, both in maritime contexts and in broader environmental governance.
