Developers and integrations

Nexus Foundry is designed to be integrated through versioned, documented interfaces rather than through private arrangements. This page, published by The Global Centre for Risk and Innovation (GCRI), explains how interfaces, software releases and documentation are managed, and what developers can expect as each is released. Interfaces open to external developers only with authorized projects. The current service level is R0: information and enquiries.

01In brief

The short answer.

Developing for Nexus Foundry means integrating through versioned, documented interfaces rather than private arrangements. The page explains how interfaces, software releases and documentation are managed and what developers can expect as each is released; interfaces open to external developers only within authorized projects.

02Geography

Digital demand and connectivity in Western Europe.

Urban demand centres and the hubs that anchor digital and data infrastructure, shown for Western Europe as an example geography for this subject.

03Versioned interfaces

Contracts first, then code.

Contracts

Published contracts

Interfaces are described as machine-readable contracts, such as OpenAPI, with a version and a change log.

Versions

Change without surprise

Breaking changes take a new version. Earlier versions are deprecated with notice, not withdrawn silently.

Authorization

Same gate for code

Every call is authorized by the policy gates of NSF, with OpenID Connect and OAuth for identity and delegation.

04Open standards

Standards the systems are designed to support.

05Software releases

How software is built and released.

  1. 01

    Build

The Factory system turns blueprints into tested applications with a software bill of materials and provenance.

  2. 02

    Sign

Releases are signed and attestable. A release is not a deployment authorization.

  3. 03

    Install

The Apps system checks entitlement and compatibility and installs into a declared tenant environment, with rollback.

  4. 04

    Correct

Defects and security fixes are released as new versions with notes.

06Key terms

Terms used on this page.

Each term as this page uses it. Where a standard-setting body defines the term, the wording follows that body.

TermDefinition
Contract-first designDefining an interface's specification before implementing either side of it.
Interface control documentA record of the variables, units, timing and owners at an interface between systems.
VersioningKeeping each changed state of a record as a distinct, dated version linked to the ones before and after it.
Software bill of materialsA machine-readable inventory of the components and dependencies in a piece of software, in formats such as SPDX or CycloneDX.
07Documentation

Documentation is published as it is released.

Public technical documentation, examples and change logs are published on Nexus Foundry as each is reviewed for public release. Restricted documentation stays inside authorized projects. Each document states the version of the interface or release it describes, its date and its owner, and corrections are published as new versions rather than silent edits. Security issues go to security@therisk.global, the security disclosure route.

08Questions

Questions and answers.

Is there a public API today?
No public API is offered at R0. Interfaces open with authorized projects and their terms, and their documentation is published as it is released.
Can I build an application on Nexus Foundry?
Applications are built through the Factory and Apps systems inside authorized projects. Technology providers can start with GCRI pathways for technology providers.
How do I report a vulnerability?
Write to security@therisk.global. Do not test against systems you are not authorized to use.
Are the interfaces open source?
Licensing is set in each release's terms and its licence records. No licence is implied by this page.
Will old interface versions keep working?
The design deprecates a version with notice and a stated end date before it is withdrawn, so integrations have time to move. The change log records every change.
