Sustainable Emergency Food Systems in Humanitarian Crises: A Scalable Model

This side event organized by Lebanon in collaboration with UN Women Lebanon and the World Food Programme (WFP) will highlight a scalable model for a Sustainable Emergency Food System in crises targeting displaced rural women, which encompasses three key phases: 1) Preparedness, 2) Conflict Response, and 3) Post-war Recovery.

This side event seeks to promote the Sustainable Emergency Food Systems model, aiming to:

  • Empower displaced populations through active participation in local food systems.
  • Integrate local food production and preparation with external aid to enhance food diversity and nutrition.
  • Promote agroecological practices that ensure long-term resilience and sustainability.
  • Build leadership and livelihood skills to facilitate post-crisis recovery.
