Events and technical dialogues: a convening from call to recordA call for sessions is issued; proposals are selected against criteria; the programme is built with balance; the convening runs; the record is published and follow-up tracked. Design of the process, not a record of a run.

01In brief

The short answer.

Water Nexus events are confirmed technical dialogues, workshops and sessions on water, climate and hazards, and critical infrastructure, each listed with its date, organizer, format and terms. Only scheduled, confirmed activities appear, and a planned event is never shown as held. Sessions may run under the Chatham House Rule, and outcome notes are published only with participants' consent.

02Geography

Water now in the Nile Basin.

For events and technical dialogues, in GCRI's spatial-intelligence reading, the map opens on population density, flood water, night lights and true-colour imagery with relief in 3D, framed on the Nile Basin; every other NASA layer, live feed and forecast waits in the layer list.

The interactive map needs JavaScript; the layer list and sources are below.

03How it works

Events and technical dialogues in Water Nexus.

  • Each entry shows its scope, host or owner, and terms.
  • Participation follows published rules, applied equally.
  • Taking part gives no authority or influence over findings.
04Formats

Technical dialogues that suit water questions.

  • Basin data clinics: hydrological services and researchers reconcile records for one basin.
  • Method comparisons: several models run on the same basin and their differences discussed.
  • Drought tabletop sessions: decision-holders walk through restriction stages with forecast material.

Each event is listed with its date, organiser and terms only once confirmed.

06Key terms

Terms used on this page.

Each term as this page uses it. Where a standard-setting body defines the term, the wording follows that body.

TermDefinition
Chatham House RuleA rule under which participants may use information received but may not reveal the identity or affiliation of speakers.
Code of conductA written set of standards for how members, staff or participants behave, with a route for complaints and a stated process for handling them.
Return periodThe average interval between events of a given size, equal to the inverse of the annual exceedance probability; a one-in-a-hundred-year flood has a one in a hundred chance of being exceeded in any year.
