The Global Centre for Risk and Innovation (GCRI)
Labs is the research and experimentation system: where new methods and technologies are tried under controlled conditions before anything depends on them.

Nexus Labs system is the Nexus Foundry system for governed experiments, reproducible compute, testbeds, benchmarks and research handoffs. It serves 11 platforms, among them Biodiversity Nexus and Nexus Labs, and its stated limit is that experiment results are not certification. Access is through an authorized project with an accountable owner, data terms and a review plan.
Urban demand centres and the hubs that anchor digital and data infrastructure, shown for Western Europe as an example geography for this subject.
Methods and technologies for systemic risk change quickly. An experimental environment with clear separation from production, pre-registered questions and honest reporting of negative results prevents untested methods from reaching decisions.

Each term as this page uses it. Where a standard-setting body defines the term, the wording follows that body.
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Testbed | A controlled setting, from a lab rig to a field site or sandbox, for trying a technology before it meets real conditions of use. |
| Computational reproducibility | Re-running the original data and code and obtaining the reported results. |
| Benchmark | A fixed set of tasks and scoring rules used to compare model performance. |
The bodies and documents this page is read against. Status and editions change; each link goes to the issuing body.
The current service level is R0: information and enquiries. An enquiry receives a reference and names the next step; applications, payments, compute allocations and registrations open only when their team, terms and review capacity exist.
