Technical systems

This is the canonical directory of the 20 technical systems of Nexus Foundry, published by The Global Centre for Risk and Innovation (GCRI). Each system has one product page here, with what it does, who uses it, where its authorization boundary sits and the platforms it serves. Other pages across the network link to these pages rather than describing systems in their own words, so there is one reference for each. The current service level is R0: information and enquiries.

01In brief

The short answer.

The Nexus Foundry systems directory is the canonical list of its twenty technical systems, from NorthStar and DSS to GRIx, EWS and Rails, with one page each on what the system does, who uses it, where its authorization boundary sits and the platforms it serves. Other pages link here rather than describe systems in their own words.

02Geography

Digital demand and connectivity in World.

Urban demand centres and the hubs that anchor digital and data infrastructure, shown for World as an example geography for this subject.

04How to read it

One spine, many systems.

The systems share one trust spine, NSF, so identity, policy and receipts work the same way everywhere. Each composes or consumes the others' records rather than re-owning them: NorthStar, DSS and EWS use GRIx products instead of inventing their own risk figures. The boundaries of each system are summarized on capabilities.

05Key terms

Terms used on this page.

Each term as this page uses it. Where a standard-setting body defines the term, the wording follows that body.

TermDefinition
System of systemsA set of independent systems that work together to deliver capabilities none can deliver alone, each keeping its own management and purpose, in the sense ISO/IEC/IEEE 21839 uses.
Common operating pictureA shared, regularly updated view of the situation, resources and actions that coordinating agencies all use.
Early warning systemAn integrated system of hazard monitoring, forecasting, risk assessment, warning communication and preparedness that lets people and institutions act before a hazard strikes, in UNDRR terminology.
Audit trailA record of who accessed or changed data, when and why.
08Questions

Questions and answers.

Why twenty systems rather than one product?
Each system has a distinct responsibility and limit, which keeps authority clear: the system that analyses is not the one that decides, warns or releases funds.
Can a system be used without the others?
They are designed to work together under NSF. Access to any system is scoped to an authorized project.
Where do I ask about a specific system?
Write to contact@therisk.global, naming the system. The acknowledgement gives a reference and names the next step.
