Nexus Reports programme

Nexus Reports is one governed publication programme: quarterly country editions, an annual flagship and specialist series across global, regional, sector, technology and programme subjects. The Global Centre for Risk and Innovation (GCRI) is the canonical publication owner, through the Nexus Reports platform. This page explains the series, the review that precedes release and how issues are linked once approved. A planned report is never shown as released, and issue links appear only after release. It is part of publications.

Nexus Reports programme: systematic evidence synthesisA question is framed with its owner and a protocol registered; records are searched, screened and checked for eligibility by two reviewers; data are extracted, synthesised and graded for certainty before a brief is written. Design of the process, not a record of a run.

04Country editions

Four quarterly editions, one annual cycle.

The country family follows the pattern Nexus Country Systems Risk and Resilience Report: country, year. Q4 may serve as the annual flagship.

EditionQuestionBoundary
Q1 · State and AgendaWhat matters this year, and what is the starting position?Observed baseline stays distinct from planned work
Q2 · Evidence and BuildWhat new evidence and capability have been developed?A configured capability is not a validated result
Q3 · Stress Test and ReadinessWhat do scenarios and tests reveal?Simulated loss or performance is not observed impact
Q4 · Annual Synthesis and RenewalWhat did the year establish, and what changes next?Release follows review, not event publicity deadlines
05Series

Seventeen series, one standard.

The 17 report series are listed at all report series. They include Global Systems Risk and Resilience, Regional Systems, Exponential Technology, Methods and Technical and the Nexus Universe Annual Synthesis.

06What each issue includes

Delivered with its evidence.

  • An accessible HTML edition, and a print or download file where produced
  • A methods page and a source and rights register
  • Reusable figures with metadata
  • A permitted machine-readable data bundle
  • Review and funding disclosures
  • A correction history

Every result carries an evidence label. Third-party risk index names are not used, and Nexus indicators use GRIx-native names and units without invented values.

07Key terms

Terms used on this page.

Each term as this page uses it. Where a standard-setting body defines the term, the wording follows that body.

TermDefinition
Version of recordThe fixed version of a work that a publisher formally declares published; later changes appear as dated corrections or new versions, never as silent edits, in the sense NISO's journal article versions recommendation uses.
Editorial independenceThe condition in which editors decide what is published on the validity and relevance of the work, free from interference by owners, funders or sponsors, as ICMJE and COPE guidance describe it.
Living reportA report updated in versions as evidence changes, with each version kept and dated.
Grey literatureMaterial produced outside commercial and academic publishing, such as reports, filings and working papers.
08Ownership

One canonical owner, linked from everywhere.

GCRI is the canonical publisher. Platforms and the other pillar institutions link to issues rather than republishing them; The Global Risks Forum (GRF) explains its relationship at reports and publications relationship. Changes are recorded under corrections and updates.

09Questions

Questions and answers.

Are any Nexus Reports released yet?
Released issues are linked from the series pages and the publications catalogue once they pass review. Series descriptions alone do not mean an issue has been released.
Is Nexus Reports a ranking of countries?
No. It is a governed publication programme. It does not rank countries, and it is not a marketing channel.
Who decides what a country report says?
Qualified, conflict-managed reviewers and the publisher, with country reviewers and source owners. National programmes keep their own data and decision rights.
Can I propose a contribution to a series?
Yes. Write to research@therisk.global. Contributions follow the series' review, rights and disclosure rules.
