Three pillar not-for-profit institutions lead Nexus Consortiums: The Global Centre for Risk and Innovation (GCRI), The Global Risks Forum (GRF) and The Global Risks Alliance (GRA). Each has a distinct public-good mandate, its own legal identity and its own website, and each publishes for itself. They lead one coordinated programme, but none is the parent, agent or regulator of another, and none speaks for the others. This page sets out who leads what, who publishes what and where the boundaries lie. Return to How Nexus Consortium works.

GCRI, GRF and GRA are the three pillar not-for-profit institutions that lead Nexus Consortiums. Each has a distinct public-good mandate, its own legal identity and its own website: GCRI for science and evidence, GRF for governance and convening, GRA for shared financial-sector understanding. None is the parent, agent or regulator of another, and none speaks for the others.

| Institution | Leads on | Legal identity | Home |
|---|---|---|---|
| GCRI | Consortium Secretariat; evidence, methods and technical assistance; country programme formation; global contracting party in support of the consortiums | GCRI Canada, a Canadian not-for-profit organization, and GCRI US, a separate organization with its own legal identity | Canada and the United States |
| GRF | Leadership, institutional dialogue and Nexus Universe programme governance | A Swiss association | Switzerland |
| GRA | Translating risk evidence into finance, insurance and development-readiness questions | A nonprofit corporation registered in Nevada, United States, operating as a business league for the financial services industry | United States |
GCRI does not regulate, certify, license or approve. It prepares evidence; competent authorities decide.
GRF does not regulate, finance, procure or certify. Hosting or sponsorship confers no authority. See GRF in the Consortium.
GRA does not lend, underwrite, rate, invest, advise on or arrange transactions. Readiness is not approval. See GRA in the Consortium.
Each term as this page uses it. Where a standard-setting body defines the term, the wording follows that body.
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Business league | Under United States tax law, an association of persons with a common business interest whose activities improve conditions in a line of business rather than perform services for individual members for profit. |
| Swiss association | A corporate body under the Swiss Civil Code formed for a non-commercial purpose, such as a scientific, cultural or charitable one, which acquires legal personality once its articles show the intention to exist as a corporate body. |
| Affiliation | A recorded relationship, such as accreditation, membership or observer status, between an organization and another body; listing it implies no endorsement unless the other body says so. |
| Decision rights matrix | A table showing which body proposes, approves, executes and oversees each decision. |
GCRI's statuses, such as special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), belong to GCRI only and do not extend to GRF or GRA. They are listed on Affiliations and credentials. How decisions divide between the institutions is set out on Board and governance.
