Foundry technical gateway

Nexus Foundry is the persistent work environment of Nexus Consortiums, where projects, data, models, maps, analysis and evidence are kept throughout the year. It is organized as twenty technical systems, each with ten rooms. The Global Centre for Risk and Innovation (GCRI) documents Foundry publicly and, through GCRI Canada, runs its global-to-local deployment in service of the national and regional consortiums under a strict not-for-profit mandate. This gateway lists the systems, explains how a project enters and states the authorization boundaries. Return to Nexus Ecosystem.

01In brief

The short answer.

Nexus Foundry is the persistent work environment of Nexus Consortiums, where projects, data, models, maps, analysis and evidence are kept through the year, organized as twenty technical systems. GCRI documents it publicly and, through GCRI Canada, runs its global-to-local deployment; authorization stays with the people who hold it, and workspace access is not yet open.

02Geography

Landscapes and remoteness in Brazil.

Mountain ranges, deserts, wetlands, glaciers and reefs, and how remote each division is from large cities, shown for Brazil as an example geography for this subject.

04Project entry

How work enters Foundry.

  1. 01

    Enquiry

A national programme, institution or mission team describes its question and receives a reference.

  2. 02

    Scope and rights

The counterpart, the information scope, the data rights and the authority for the next step are agreed in writing.

  3. 03

    Workspace

A project workspace is opened for authorized users only, when access opens at the relevant service level.

  4. 04

    Build and review

Models and analysis are built in governed systems, and findings are reviewed before any publication.

05Boundaries

Authorization stays with the people who hold it.

  • Participation gives Nexus no control of operational technology, and exercises carry no live actuation or warning authority.
  • A blueprint is not an installed environment, and requested capacity is not allocated capacity.
  • National programmes keep their agenda, data and decision rights under a rights schedule.
  • Nexus Foundry is hosted on Google Cloud infrastructure in the United States, and personal information may be processed there under the privacy notice.

07Status

What is open today.

The current service level is R0: information and enquiries. Workspace access and computing allocations open only when their team, terms and review capacity are in place. Technical documentation is published on Nexus Foundry, and the work that Foundry supports in the annual programme is described by The Global Risks Forum (GRF) on Nexus Universe at GRF.

08Questions

Questions and answers.

Who operates Nexus Foundry?
National and regional Nexus Consortiums operate it through their host and lead organizations, within the programme led by the three pillar institutions. GCRI Canada supports them as global contracting party and runs the global-to-local deployment.
Who owns the Foundry code?
Nexus Observatory Inc. is the intended licensor of the code and intellectual property to GCRI Canada for public-good, not-for-profit operation. It does not operate the service or direct programme decisions.
Can I get a workspace now?
Not yet. The current service level is information and enquiries; an enquiry receives a reference and the acknowledgement names the next step.
The Global Centre for Risk and Innovation

Start with an enquiry.

The current service level is R0: information and enquiries. An enquiry receives a reference and names the next step; applications, payments, compute allocations and registrations open only when their team, terms and review capacity exist.
